May 2017 Pastor Gary’s thoughts…..
Pathways of Kemp United Methodist Church
Considering the rain we received in April, we should have
a most beautiful flower filled May. It is at this time of the year
that I become even more aware of God’s blessing for new
growth that will add beauty to the world and to produce the
food to feed the world. We have so much for which to be
thankful to God and so many opportunities to give back to the
Lord.
One of the great opportunities we have to give back is to
help others in need and given Kemp’s long involvement with
Tipton County Mustard Seed, we need look no further.
Mustard Seed began almost 30 years ago and Don Reap was
the first President of the Board. Thank you for your service,
Don!
Mustard Seed helps give a hand up to our Tipton County
neighbors in need. Through the generous long term charter
support of the Tipton County Foundation and the original
founding churches, many families have been lifted up and are
now self-sufficient.
This year’s annual fundraiser, “Aloha to Summer”, will
take place on Saturday May 6 at the 4H Community Building.
Advance sale tickets are $10 and available in our office.
Tickets may also be purchased from Sandy Adams and Lary
Graves, Kemp’s representatives on the board of Mustard
Seed. In addition to the great food and fun, this is a wonderful
opportunity to thank God for all of our blessings and to serve
our neighbors.
Looking forward to seeing a big Kemp crowd on the 6th.
Blessing, Pastor Gary

Tipton County’s 2017 Relay For Life will be
held on Friday, June 16 in the Tipton City
Park from 5:00 -11:00PM. Once again, Mike
and Susan Forkner are leading Kemp’s team.
There are many ways you can be part of this
important event:
Sign up to walk on the team.
Secure pledges for team members.
Come out and cheer on the team and
maybe bring them a snack or two or
three!
Our neighbors, the mission team of West Street
Christian Church are continuing their outreach
project, Soles4Souls. The shoes collected end up
in poor countries where microenterprise
programs facilitate the shoeless
being able to afford shoes.
Your contribution of shoes to help
with this project are much appreciated!
Remember....any kind of shoes for any age are
needed! We have placed a Soles4Souls collec-
tion box just inside the sanctuary entrance.
We are collecting pop tabs for Riley Hospital, and Box Tops for Education for Tipton Middle School Library. Containers are located on the table to your
right as you enter the sanctuary.

BEING THE “HANDS AND FEET OF CHRIST”
STEPHEN MINISTRY INTRODUCTORY WORKSHOP
Pastors want to provide care to everyone who needs it-but they can’t do it
alone. Equipping laypeople to minister to hurting people is a highly effective
and biblical way to ensure that those in need of Christ—centered care re-
ceive it. Christ at work in and through gifted, trained lay caregivers-
that’s the Stephen Ministry vision!
This half—day event will show how to make that vision a reality. You and
your team will gain hands—on ministry skills through a sample of Stephen
Minister training, deepen your vision for care and out reach, and learn how
to bring the life—changing benefits of Stephen Ministry to your congrega-
tion.
Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church will be offering a workshop on
Sunday, May 7, 2017, from 2 PM to 6 PM. Check—in and refreshments
begin at 1 PM.
There are three sessions offered that day, 1) MINISTERING TO THOSE EXPE-
RIENCING GRIEF 2) AN INTRODUCTION TO STEPHEN MINISTRY 3) HOW TO
CARE IN A DISTINCTIVELY CHRISTIAN WAY.
Cost is $15.00 per person or $50.00 for a group of four or more from your
congregation or organization. Kemp UMC will pay your fees to attend this
important workshop.
Contact the church office at 765-675-2915, or email to [email protected]
to sign up. There is also information on the Mission bulletin board just
outside the sanctuary.
Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church
and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever, and ever. Amen.
— Ephesians 4:20 - 21 (ESV)
The Indiana Miracle Offering for Global Health supports the efforts of Imagine No Malaria and the United Methodist Global Aids Fund. In one day, more than 2,000 lives are lost to malaria and HIV/AIDS. Those most susceptible are women and children.
Bishop Julius C. Trimble is calling for the Indiana Miracle Offering for Global Health to be received at the 2017 Annual Conference session (June 8-10) in Indianapolis, IN. Each of our 1,120 congregations are en-couraged to begin preparation for this miraculous expression of God's love in action as we raise awareness and funds to impact thousands of lives around our world this year.
Kemp will be
collecting this
special offering on
May 28 and June 4.
