Delivered by Page\Park Architects, Gardiner & Theobald and McLaughlin & Harvey Construction for Glasgow Life, the category-B listed Kelvin Hall re-opened to the public in August 2016 having undergone a three-year development which transformed the 90-year-old venue into a multi-purpose sports, culture and education building. IFTs integrated approach provided the client with one point of contact for their screed and resin flooring requirements to deliver a high quality of service and finish. The screeding involved a combination of sand/cement and self-level products in order to satisfy the various floor finished and tolerances. The resin element involved the installation of Mondéco Mirrazzo to floor, coves, landings and treads/risers. This product was also installed to the reception desk and to a feature wall within the entrance lobby. Mirrazzo is a seamless epoxy resin terrazzo floor finish that utilises a blend of recycled crushed clear, coloured and mirror glass & metallic particles. It is suitable for airport and railway terminals, shopping centres, restaurants, hotels and environments where design aesthetics and durability are of paramount concern. Changing the colour of the resin matrix with the same aggregate blend can create a totally different effect.
