Kelsey’s Senior Experience
A Presentation
Introduction
Why I chose Neuropsychology.
Pursuing this topic in the future.
The process taught me a few things
about myself.
The skills I’ve acquired.
Research Overview
What I researched.
What I learned.
The Five Principles
Inability to process information
Inability to generate behavior that is appropriate for their environment
Lack of problem-solving abilities that were developed as the human race has
matured
Inability of neural circuits to connect properly
Not demonstrating the ancient mechanisms that exist because they helped
solve problems in the past
Loevinger’s Model of Test Development
Validity
Diagnostic Power
Sensitivity
Specificity
Positive predictive power
Negative predictive power
Diagnostic power
Cross-Validation
Applying my research to my product.
Sensitivity is the probability that the patient has the disorder if the test scores are positive for the disorder. Specificity is the probability that the patient does not have the disorder if the test scores are negative for the disorders. Positive predictive power is the probability that the test will show positive if it is known that the patient has the disorder. Negative predictive power is the probability that the test will show negative if it is known that the patient does not have the disorder. Diagnostic power is the overall probability of accurate diagnosis (both positive and negative) of the test (Goldfarb 185).
Job Shadow Overview
An awkward first impression.
“Believe me, we speak our own
language.”
The session with a patient.
Helped determine my product.
Parental Consent FormDear Parent and/or Guardian of Chester student,
As a Chester senior, I am required to participate in a Senior Experience Project. In my project, I will combine different games in such a way as to perform a neuropsychological test. I hope to develop a standard by testing many students and finding an average and then test students diagnosed with mental disabilities (ADHD, Down Syndrome, Autism, etc.) and see where the results fall in comparison to the standard.
All information will be confidential and will only be presented to my judges who will grade the project. Your approval for testing your son/daughter is imperative for a productive senior project. Thank you,Kelsey Backus

Reflection
What would I do differently if I
were to do it again?
What did I learn about myself?
What skills will transfer to
college or work?
questions?
