Physical EducationStudents in Mr. Johnson’s 4th and 5th grade P.E. classes enjoyed

playing with the parachute this past week. They were introduced to games like popcorn, the fly away, shark tag, and the igloo.

M-Step4th and 5th grade students have been working very hard

on the new state assessment called M-Step. In the past, all state assessments were paper pencil tests. This year, it is all done on the computer. Classroom teachers, including our technology teacher, had students experience what the questions might look like, as well as all the tools available for their use. Even though the tests are long, everyone is putting forth their best effort.

Alternative Spring BreakWhile most students enjoyed a break from school work

and learning during spring break, a group of 16 KMS students participated in a 3 day Alternative Spring Break program, hosted by the Kent ISD Career Exploration Department. The students spent 3 days visiting local businesses and colleges, learning more about careers in engineering, manufacturing, and construction. They had many hands-on experiences and were able to learn and ask questions from a variety of business and educational leaders. The students also participated in a service project, went geocaching, and climbed the rock wall at Davenport University. On the last day they visited Marge’s Donut Den and met with local artist Paul Collins.
