Expecting the unexpected is what’s so refreshing about our industry. From pushing the boundaries with ingredients, innovative presentation methods and personal limits, professional chef wear designers Chaud Devant realised the urgent need for a shake up in chef’s shoes. So much so, they’ve teamed up with world leaders in footwear creation, Michelin®Technical Soles, to produce the hotly anticipated GT1pro Magister shoe – designed exclusively for chefs. Now there’s some serious food for thought…

Gone are the days where you expect to witness a sea of clogs floating around a kitchen. Instead, chefs want something which will not only protect them from the elements found in a professional kitchen, but will withstand the pressures and remain a safe yet stylish companion for weary chef’s feet. CEO of Chaud Devant Bianca Van Der Lee has already launched these shoes across her native Benelux and France with matching success, and launching her collaborative designs into the UK market is something she is extremely excited about.

“I am absolutely delighted to be bringing the GT1pro footwear to Great Britain. Together with Continental Chef Supplies, we have been working with our UK customers, endeavouring to find out what it is they’re missing. It was a premium shoe – a starred product which would inspire the starred chefs and those following in

their footsteps to be wearing a product which is aspirational, practical and stylish”.

In addition to being designed to look as stylish as possible, the GT1pro Magister shoes benefit from the following features:

● Full grain water repellent leather exterior ● Lightweight aluminium toecap ● Italian designed slip on shoe ● PORON® comfort insole for support ● Anti-slip, oil, chemical and mineral resistant ● Michelin ‘Star’ grip and ‘Pilot Sport 3’

pattern on soles for flexibility, stability and adhesion.

ThE PERFECT FIT

Finding admirers of these sought-after shoes was not a difficult task. Chefs have been hot on their heels to catch a glimpse of the shoes, which will be launched at the UK Michelin Awards at The Brewery on 2nd October.

Sophie hardy, PR & Marketing Co-Ordinator at Continental Chef Supplies (the exclusive UK distributor of the shoes) added: “This has been a launch which has been particularly exciting to be a part of. To have Chaud Devant, our prestigious chef wear brand, partner with a global brand like Michelin so synonymous with safety, prestige and quality, is an absolute privilege”.

One such chef who had heard about the launch of these shoes in Europe was Chef Patron at Biben-dum, Claude Bosi. Following the likes of Pascal Barbot and Stefan Van Sprang across Europe, Claude was thrilled when he was approached to become an ambassador for the UK footwear launch.

“I love the shoes. They’re like nothing else I’ve seen for chefs. They’re such great quality and I cannot wait to try them out during service at Bibendum. They are an extension of the benchmark of quality I make sure we have in the restaurant and I’m looking forward to seeing how many chefs will join me in this new footwear revolution. Mine is a low rise black pair!”

The shoes are available in two stylish and practical designs to complement chef’s apparel, a low-rise shoe and a mid rise boot. Both are available in Black or Brown and a ladies shoe is next on the horizon.

It comes as no surprise that there’s a waiting list when it comes to ordering these groundbreaking shoes. The question is: when are you going to join the queue?
