Trees Rooted in Science™

In 2014, a Houston homeowner was seeking guidance for caring for his trees and hired a certified arborist to assess and diagnose them. The 60 year-old live oak that sits prominently in his front yard was recommended for removal, as it was dying. Determined to save the tree, he tried several leading products and processes, including deep root feeding, without results.

Continuing to look for a solution, he contacted Dr. Don Smith who had recently begun servicing the Houston area. Deciding to try one more solution before having the tree removed, he treated the live oak and his other trees, in hopes of preventing them from declining as well. Within a few months the dying tree was revived, the average trees were enhanced and the already flourishing trees saw improved health. Amazed with the results, the homeowner formed a company with Dr. Smith and Tree Nutri™ was launched in 2016.

Dr. Don Smith is the Research and Development Officer for Tree Nutri™ and the creator of Tree Nutri and Beginnings. He received his Ph.D. in agronomy from the University of Wisconsin and spent his professional life doing botanical research and teaching botany at the University of North Texas.

Neal Howell is the Alabama Plant Manager for Tree Nutri™ and the creator of Boost for Yellowing Pines and Boost for Yellowing Palms. He received his masters in plant science from West Texas State University, now known as West Texas A&M University, and has spent more than 30 years working with micronutrients.
