USER SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONSUsersshould:•Washhandsbeforeeating,drinking,chewinggum,usingtobaccoorusing

thetoilet.•Remove clothing/PPE immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash

thoroughlyandputoncleanclothing.•RemovePPEimmediatelyafterhandlingthisproduct.Washtheoutsideof

glovesbeforeremoving.Assoonaspossible,washthoroughlyandchangeintocleanclothing.

ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDSDonotapplydirectlytowater,ortoareaswheresurfacewaterispresentortointertidalareasbelowthemeanhighwatermark.Donotapplywhenweatherconditionsfavordriftfromareastreated.Donotcontaminatewaterwhendis-posingofequipmentwashwatersorrinseate.Donotusethesamesprayequip-mentforotherpurposesunlessthoroughlycleaned.Donotallowspraystodriftontoadjacentdesirableplants.Driftorrunoffmayadverselyaffectnon-targetplants.XONERATE Herbicide has properties which may result in ground water con-tamination.UseofXONERATEHerbicideinareaswheresoilsarepermeableandgroundwaterisnearthesurfaceshouldbeavoided.Topreventdamagetocropsandotherdesirableplants,readandfollowalldirec-tionsandprecautionsonthislabelbeforeusing.

GROUND WATER ADVISORYThischemicalhaspropertiesandcharacteristicsassociatedwithchemicalsdetectedingroundwater.Thischemicalmayleachintogroundwaterifusedinareaswheresoilsarepermeable,particularlywhere thewater table isshallow.Amicarbazoneanditsmajordegradatesareknowntoleachthroughsoilintogroundwaterundercertainconditionsasaresultoflabeluse.

SURFACE WATER ADVISORYThisproductmaycontaminatesurfacewaterviarunoffofrainwaterordriftof spray inwind.Thisproduct isclassifiedashavingahighpotential forreachingsurfacewaterviarunoffseveralmonthsormoreafterapplication.Alevel,wellmaintainedvegetativebufferstripbetweenareastowhichthisproductisappliedandsurfacewaterfeaturessuchasponds,streams,andspringswill reduce thepotential loading of Amicarbazone and its degra-dates from runoffwater andsediment.Runoff of thisproductwill be re-ducedbyavoidingapplicationswhenrainfallisforecastedtooccurwith48hours.Sounderosioncontrolpracticeswillreducethisproduct’spotentialtoreachaquaticsedimentviarunoff.

Thisproductmaynotbemixedor loadedwithin50feetofanywells (includ-ingabandonedwellsanddrainagewells),sinkholes,perennialorintermittentstreamsandriversandnaturalorimpoundedlakesandreservoirs.Thissetbackdoesnotapply toproperlycappedorpluggedabandonedwellsanddoesnotapplytoimperviouspadorproperlydikedmixing/loadingareas.Operationsthatinvolvemixing,loading,rinsingorwashingofthisproductinto

orfrompesticidehandlingorapplicationequipmentorcontainerswithin50feetofanywellareprohibitedunlessconductedonanimperviouspadconstructedtowithstandtheweightoftheheaviestloadthatmaybepositionedonormovedacross thepad.Suchapadshallbedesignedandmaintained tocontainanyproductspillsorequipmentleaks,containerorequipmentrinseorwashwaterandrainwaterthatmayfallonthepad.Surfacewatershallnotbeallowedtoeitherflowoverorfromthepad,whichmeansthepadmustbeselfcontained.Thepadshallbesloped to facilitatematerial removal.Anunroofedpadshallbeofsufficientcapacitytocontainataminimum110%ofthecapacityofthelargestpesticidecontainerorapplicationequipmentonthepad.Apadthatiscoveredbyaroofofsufficientsizetocompletelyexcludeprecipitationfromcon-tactwiththepadshallhaveaminimumcontainmentcapacityof100%ofthecapacityofthelargestpesticidecontainerorapplicationequipmentonthepad.Containment capacities as described above shall bemaintained at all times.Theabovespecificminimumcontainmentcapacitiesdonotapply tovehicleswhendeliveringpesticideshipmentstothemixing/loadingsite.Statesorlocaltribesmayhaveineffectadditionalrequirementsregardingwellheadsetbacksandoperationalcontainment.State,Local,orTribal regulationsmaybemorerestrictivethanthoselistedonthisproductlabel.Themostrestrictiverequire-mentsmustbefollowed.Thisproductmustbeused inamannerwhichwillpreventbacksiphoning inwells,spillsorimproperdisposalofexcesspesticide,spraymixturesorrinsates.

DIRECTIONS FOR USEItisaviolationofFederallawtousethisproductinamannerinconsistentwithitslabeling.Donotapplythisproductinawaythatwillcontactworkersorotherpersons,eitherdirectlyorthroughdrift.Onlyprotectedhandlersmaybeintheareadur-

ingapplication.ForanyrequirementsspecifictoyourStateorTribe,consulttheagencyresponsibleforpesticideregulation.

AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTS Use thisproductonly inaccordancewith its labelingandwith theWorkerProtectionStandard,40CFRpart170.ThisStandardcontainsrequirementsfor theprotectionofagriculturalworkerson farms, forests,nurseriesandgreenhouses, and handlers of agricultural pesticides. It contains require-mentsfortraining,decontamination,notificationandemergencyassistance.Italsocontainsspecificinstructionsandexceptionspertainingtothestate-mentsonthislabelaboutPersonalProtectiveEquipment(PPE)andrestrict-ed-entry interval. The requirements in this box only apply to uses of thisproductthatarecoveredbytheWorkerProtectionStandard.Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the Re-stricted Entry Interval (REI) of 12 hours following application.Exception:Iftheproductissoil-injectedorsoil-incorporated,theWorkerPro-tectionStandard,undercertaincircumstances,allowsworkerstoenterthetreatedareaiftherewillbenocontactwithanythingthathasbeentreated.PPE required for early entry to treated areas that is permitted under theWorker Protection Standard and that involves contact with anything thathasbeentreated,suchasplants,soil,orwater,wearcoveralls,chemical-resistantgloves(madeofanywaterproofmaterial),andshoesplussocks.

NON-AGRICULTURAL USE REQUIREMENTSThe requirements in this box apply to uses of this product that are NOTwithin the scope of the Worker Protection Standard for agricultural pes-ticides (40CFRPart170).TheWPSapplieswhen thisproduct isused toproduceagriculturalplantsonfarms,forests,nurseries,orgreenhouses.Donotenterorallowpeople(orpets)toenterthetreatedareauntilsprayshavedried.

PRODUCT INFORMATIONXONERATEHerbicideisaselective,postemergenceherbicidethatmaybeusedforthecontrolofcertainweedsinestablishedturfgrasses.Italsohaspreemer-genceactivityoncertainweedspeciesat ratesof5.0 to10.0ozXONERATEHerbicide/A.XONERATEHerbicideisformualtedasa70%waterdispersiblegranule(WDG)Herbicide.XONERATEHerbicide’smodeofaction is inhibitionofphotosynthesisatpho-tosystemII.Apply XONERATE Herbicide either alone, in tank mix combinations with, orsequentiallyprior toorafteradditionalherbicides.When tankmixing,alwaysobserveallprecautionarystatementsandlimitationsonlabelingofallproducts.In turf applications, water is the recommended liquid carrier for XONERATEHerbicide.

RESISTANCE MANAGEMENTForresistancemanagement,XONERATEHerbicideisanHerbicideResistanceAction Committee (HRAC) Group C1 Herbicide, a photosynthesis II inhibitor(WeedScienceSocietyofAmerica(WSSA)Group5).Anyweedpopulationmaycontainordevelopplantsnaturallyresistanttoaherbicidalmodeofaction.Re-sistantbiotypescaneventuallydominatetheweedpopulationifherbicideswithanidenticalmodeofactionareusedrepeatedlyonthesamesite.Ifthishap-pens,controlofresistantbiotypeswillnotoccurunlessaherbicidewithadif-ferentmodeofactionisutilized.Wheneverpossible,tankmixorrotatetheuseofXONERATEHerbicidewithherbicidesthathaveadifferentmodeofaction.XONERATEHerbicidewillnotcontroltriazine-resistant(atrazine,simazine,me-tribuzin)anddiuron-resistantweeds.Otherresistancemechanismsthatarenotlinkedtositeofaction,butspecificforindividualchemicals,suchasenhancedmetabolism,mayalsoexist.TheuseofXONERATEHerbicideshouldconformtoresistancemanagementstrategiesestablishedfortheusearea.Consultwithyourchemicaldealer,consultant,ex-tensionturfgrassspecialistoragriculturaladvisorforresistancemanagementstrategiesforyourarea.Read the entire DIRECTIONS FOR USE before using XONERATE Herbicide.

• Donotreplantanycroptotreatedareasotherthanturfgrassesforaperiodof12monthsafterthelastapplication.

• Donotapplywhenturfgrassesareunderstress.• Allowatleast1weekbetweenlastapplicationandoverseedingwith

wintergrasses.• Applytoactively-growingweedpopulations.• Doesnotcontrolperennialbroadleafweedsinturf.

SPRAY DRIFT MANAGEMENT Sprayequipmentandweatheraffectspraydrift.Considerallfactorswhenmak-ingapplicationdecisions.Wherestatesor tribeshavemorestringent regula-tions, theymustbeobserved.Avoidingspraydrift is the responsibilityof theapplicatororgrower.Toreducethepotentialfordrift,theapplicationequipmentmustbesettoapplymediumtocoursedroplets(i.e.,ASAEStandard572)withcorrespondingspraypressure.Usehighflowratenozzlestoapplythehighestpracticalsprayvolume.Withmostnozzletypes,narrowsprayanglesproducelargerdroplets.Followthenozzlemanufacturer’sdirectionsonpressure,ori-entation,sprayvolume,etc., inordertominimizedriftandoptimizecoverageandcontrol.

WindAvoidmakingapplicationswhensprayparticlesmaybecarriedbyaircurrentstonontargetareas.Donotsprayifwindisgusty,below2mph,orinexcessof10mphandmovinginthedirectionofadjacentsensitiveareas.Localterrainmayinfluencewindpatterns; theapplicatormustbe familiarwith localconditionsandunderstandhowtheymayimpactspraydrift.

Sensitive AreasSensitiveareas to thisproductaredefinedasbodiesofwater (ponds, lakes,rivers, streams, andwetlands), knownhabitats of threatenedor endangeredspeciesandnon-labeledagriculturalcropareas.Applicatormusttakeallpre-cautionsnecessarytokeepspraydriftfromreachingsensitiveareas.

Temperature InversionsAsurface temperature inversion (i.e., increasing temperaturewith increasingaltitude)greatly increases thepotential fordrift.Presenceofground fog isa

goodindicatorofasurfacetemperatureinversion.Donotapplyduringtempera-tureinversions.Alwaysmakeapplicationswhenthereissomeairmovementtodeterminethedirectionanddistanceofpossiblespraydrift.

EquipmentGroundequipmentmustbeproperlymaintainedandcalibratedusingappropri-atecarriersorsurrogates.

Sprayer CleanupToavoidinjuryorexposuretonon-targetcrops,thoroughlycleanallmixingandsprayequipment,includingpumps,nozzles,linesandscreenswithagoodqual-itytankcleaner,onanapprovedrinsepadoronafieldsitewhereanapprovedcropisgrown.

TURFRecommended Turfgrass SitesXONERATEHerbicidemaybeappliedtotolerantturfspeciesongolfcourses,seed and sod production fields, residential sites (including home lawns),schools,playgrounds,parks, recreationalareas,sports fields,commonareasandgrassroadsidesmaintainedasalawn.DonotapplyXONERATEHerbicidewhereannualbluegrassismaintainedasadesirableturf.

Turfgrass ToleranceApply to turfgrassesestablished forsixmonthsunlessotherwisedirectedonthislabel.WiththeexceptionofKentuckyBluegrass,coolseasonturfgrassesestablished in the fall months can be treated the following spring. KentuckyBluegrassshouldbeestablishedfortwelvemonthsbeforeapplicationofXON-

ERATEHerbicide.TheuseofXONERATEHerbicideonturfthatisnotwell-estab-lished,orthathasbeenweakenedbyweather,pests,diseases,chemicals,me-chanicalinjuryorotherrelatedstressfactorsmayresultinadverseturfinjury.ThisproductshouldonlybeappliedtositesthatarecomposedofthefollowingturfgrassspeciesunlesstrialusehasindicatedthattheturfspeciesnotlistedhereistoleranttoXONERATEHerbicide.

Mixing Instructions—Liquid CarriersXONERATEHerbicide isawaterdispersiblegranule formulation thatmustbemixedinwater.ThepropermixingsequenceforXONERATEHerbicideandrecommendedtankmixtureswiththeappropriateliquidcarrierisasfollows:

1. Fill the spray tank or nurse tank 1⁄4 full with the appropriate liquidcarrierorwater.

2. Starttherecirculationandagitationsystemandcontinuethroughoutmixingandapplication.

3. Ifthecompatibilitytestindicatestheneedforacompatibilityagent,addtherecommendedamounttothespraytank.

4. AddtherecommendedquantityofXONERATEHerbicidetothespraytank.

5. Iftankmixingwithwettablepowders,dryflowablesorwaterdispers-

ible granule products inwater as the carrier, these maybe addednow.

6. Iftankmixingwithsuspensionconcentrates,addtheproductstothespraytank.

7. If tank mixing with emulsifiable concentrates or soluble products,addtheproductstothespraytank.

8. XONERATEHerbicideandallregisteredmixturesshouldbekeptagi-tatedoncemixedandthensprayedout.

9. Donotallowmixturestostandforprolongedperiodsoftime.

CompatibilityXONERATEHerbicidecanbetank-mixedwithotherherbicides,pesticidesandliquidfertilizersnotshownonthislabel,compatibilityneedstobedeterminedbeforemixing.Acompatibilitytestcanbeconductedwiththefollowingmethod:

1. Inasmallcontainer(jarwithlid),add0.5to1.0qtofthespraycarrier. 2. Addallingredientsofthetankmixinthesameratioastheanticipated

useintospraycarrier. 3. Vigorouslyshakethemixtureandallowtostandfor5to10minutes. 4. Rapidprecipitation,settling,changesincolor,etc.and/orfailureto

resuspendindicatesthatthemixtureisphysicallyincompatibleandshouldnotbeapplied.

5. Ifthemixtureisphysicallycompatible,thetankmixshouldbetestedtodeterminesafety(noadverseturfgrassinjury)beforetreatinglargeareas.Observe treatedareas for2 to3weeksafter application. Ifinjuryisnotconsideredadverse,thentheremainingturfareamaybetreated.

Sprayer Equipment Clean-outAfterapplyingXONERATEHerbicidethesprayermustbethroughlycleanedwiththefollowingprocedure:

1. Drainthetankcompletely,thenwashouttank,boomandhoseswithcleanwater.

2. Drainthetankagain. 3. Fillthetankhalf-fullwithwaterandaddammoniaatadilutionrateof

1.0%v/v(i.e.onegallonhouseholdammoniaper100galofrinsate).Completelyfilltankwithwater.Operatethesprayerfor10minutestoflushhoses,boomandnozzles.

4. Drainthesprayersystem.Rinsethetankwithcleanwaterandflushthe hoses, boom and nozzles. Remove and clean spray tips andscreensseparately.

5. Properlydisposeofallcleaningsolutionand rinsate inaccordancewithFederal,Stateandlocalguidelines.

Donotdrainorflushsprayeronorneardesirableplants.Donotcontaminateanybodyofwater.
