I heard a loud crunch! Kiwi was deep inside the wall of our tree house, trying to find our missing relic—the Secret Jar of Olive Oil from Slip-n-Drip forest.

“I’m fine. Crunch!” Kiwi said. “I’m okay. Crunch! Not hurt!” Was Kiwi eating? He stuck his head out of the hole and filled me in. Moths and rusty metal were everywhere behind the wall. It was hard for him to even

walk. Kiwi explained, “The moths started nibbling on my hat—which caused my stomach to growl—which caused my mouth to drool—which caused more metal to rust. So, I just sat down and ate a spicy pickle.”

I know. It doesn’t make sense to me either. I tried to get him re-focused. He finally managed to tell me some tracks led through the wall to the kitchen on the other side of

__ o __ : A happy feeling inside because you know Jesus. Knowing Jesus is on your side makes you feel good, even if things aren’t going so well.

C __ __ f i __ e __ t : Knowing for sure that God loves you and feeling good about it. You can be brave because you know that God is with you.

__ a __ t __ r : Someone or something that is in charge or in control. Also refers to what we focus on completely, even to the point of it controlling us.

In his very nature he was God. Jesus was equal with God. But

Jesus didn’t take advantage of that fact. Instead, he made himself

nothing. He did this by taking on the nature of a servant. He was made just like human beings.

Philippians 2:6-7 (NIrV)

For the LORD is the great God, the great King above all gods.

In his hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to him. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands

formed the dry land.

Psalm 95:3-5 (NIV)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that

whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save

the world through him.

John 3:16-17 (NIV)

I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust

in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the

power of the Holy Spirit.

4. What’s This Say about God?5. What’s This Say about Us?

What’sA. Jesus saw crowds following Him. He went up on the side of a mountain and sat down and began teaching them.

B. Do not gather up wealth here on earth where moths can eat your lovely clothes, rust can destroy your precious metals, and thieves can break in and steal all you have gathered.

Instead, set your treasures in heaven. For where your treasure is, your heart will be. You can’t serve two masters. You can’t serve God and money at the same time.

C. Do not worry about what you will eat, drink, or wear. The Lord knows you need all of these things.

D. Look at the birds. They do not store up food, but your heavenly

Father takes care of them. And you are far more important than birds!

E. Look at the flowers. They do not work hard to have clothes. And even King Solomon with all of his wealth did not have clothes as beautiful as the flowers. Flowers are here today and wilt tomorrow. God cares for you more than flowers!

F. Do not worry by saying things like, “What will we eat?” or “What will we drink?” or “What will we wear?” Do not be like the unbelievers who run after all of those things. Your heavenly Father knows you need them.

G. So seek first His kingdom, and His righteousness, and all of the things you need will be given to you as well. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow.

the tree house. So, we headed that way. Slowly. Quietly. I could hear noises coming from the kitchen. Crunch! Kiwi sniffed the air and then barrel-rolled around the corner into the kitchen. “Koko?!” Kiwi said. “What are you doing here?!”

“Oh hey, cuz,” Koko said. “Sorry, forgot to tell you I was coming. Anyways, I was super hungry and wanted to make a fried butter and pickle sandwich, but couldn’t find any olive oil. So, I just found this jar sitting on a shelf downstairs.”

Just like that, Kiwi Holmes solved the mystery. I put the lid back on the jar. Then I gently explained to Koko that this oil was a really important relic in our collection. Kiwi said he’d run to the store and pick up some oil so they could have as many fried butter and pickle sandwiches as they wanted.

Koko noticed Kiwi’s hat filled with moth holes. He said, “You guys have a moth problem.” Kiwi frowned and bit into a pickle.
