*2012 February DAC Meetings2012 February DAC Meetings*2012 February DAC Meetings*2012 February DAC Meetings*2012 February DAC Meetings*2012 February DAC Meetings**************2012 DAC February Meetings*2012 DAC February MeetingsWe will go over specifics of each one of these. *2012 DAC February Meetings2012 DAC February Meetings*Beginning in 2012-2013 school year, there will be no reader on the reading tests. This impacts primarily two tests K-PREP and End of Course English 10.

ACT has its own approval process for a college reportable score. If a student is not approved for ACT accommodations, he/she can still apply for state approved accommodations. State-approved does not allow a reader on the reading test.*2012 DAC February MeetingsOnly one test has a non-calculator sectionK-PREP. Kentucky calculator use policy is located on our website. It aligns with the ACT policy. *2012 DAC February MeetingsThis is true for students taking the standard assessment with an IEP or 504, as well as students taking the Alternate Assessment. *2012 DAC February MeetingsAll manipulatives that a child has on their IEP, that they use regularly during instruction, can be made available to the student for assessments.

It is completely appropriate prior to testing to remind a student of all accommodations they are entitled to use. Once testing begins however it is the students responsibility to initiate the use of manipulatives . Students may pick up the manipulatives in the testing room or request them (i.e., scribe or reader). I

*2012 DAC February Meetings3x5 notecard is in addition to the other manipulatives the student regularly uses. For students taking the regular assessment, the notecard can have no writing or numbers on it at all. This is different for the students doing the alternate assessment. They are allowed the same one 3x5 notecard but they are able to have written triggers that do not include content on the notecard

They could do the Venn Diagram in one color marker and the three column chart in a different color marker. They cannot mark the number line for instance, even number hashes one color and odd number hashes another color. *2012 DAC February MeetingsA change to extended time has been made in that it no longer allows for unlimited extended time. Under extended time. the options are time and a half or double time.

Concern has been expressed around the IEP not stating how much extended time and if changes need to be made. This is not the case. Teachers should be able to state and possibly have noted in the students records how much extra time it takes a student to complete tasks in the classroom. For example, if it takes a general education student one hour to complete 40 math problems but a student with an IEP has shortened assignments and it takes them one hour to do the half those problems (20) then it is easily known that it takes this student roughly Double Time to complete the work. *2012 DAC February MeetingsThere were some significant changes for students with a PSP. Federal language has changed from Limited English Proficient to English Learners. We are trying to stay aligned for all programs and groups.

Assistive technology and Prompting and Cueing were removed from the section for PSP students since those are technically terms that relate to students with disabilities. EL students will still be allowed technology in the form of a dictionary.

Removal of Student Generated Glossaries was necessary as well in order to align with federal guidelines as well. Students are still able to use Bilingual/English dictionaries that use word to word translations. Keep in mind that all other features must be turned off.

Rules around reader on the reading test and calculator on the Non-calculator portion of the test apply the same for EL students as they do for students with a disability or a 504 plan. *2012 DAC February MeetingsAccommodations will be marked in SDRR. The options will be identical to the options listed on the IEP. *2012 DAC February Meetings
