This course is focused on the design and application of permaculture in urban areas of our northern temperatebioregion. Issues in a city such as urban food deserts, soil contaminants, invasive plants, and socio-politicalinequities require a permaculture tailored to city living. Cities have great potential as well, like neighborhoodcollaboration, reclaiming vacant land, and tapping into work trades and time banking. Most notably, ! " ofthe #.$. population lives in the suburbs but typically grows lawns rather than food.
