About the only way to scratch it is if you scratch the glass itself.” The coating can be ap- plied to almost any glass surface or window, regard- less of the size, curves or contour of the glass, and is easily installed around joints and bolts. Plus, its crystal-clear color means optimum clarity. “The particles in it are very small, so there is no distortion [of the view through the window],” Win- ters says. “In fact, it actu- ally improves the view. [The window] looks even clearer than before.” It’s especially advanta- geous on large windows, because there is no seam with KristalBond. Winters explained that KristalBond is installed commercially. The liquid coating dries to a UV and IR ray-repelling shield in about one hour. So, the coating can be applied to all windows in an average-size home in about one day. And, unlike window tint- ing, this liquid coating will not peel or bubble. KBT America’s South Florida office is at 1701 W. Hillsboro Blvd. in Deerfield Beach. When you moved to South Florida, the fun-in-the-sun lifestyle probably was one of the area’s ap-pealing features. You likely loved the idea of spending winter days wearing shorts and Hawaiian shirts while much of the country shiv-ered.

But, as a homeowner, you’re probably not a big fan of all that sun – and what it does to your air-con-ditioning costs — when the monthly utility bill arrives.

If you are getting burned by high air-conditioning costs, go liquid. Or more specifically, get Kristal-Bond, a liquid glass coating that acts to shield a home’s interior against the sun’s ultraviolet and infra-red (IR) rays.

This non-toxic coating bonds chemically to the inside of the glass without the use of adhesives. It acts as double-glazing on

a window, helping cool the home during the summer and keeping it warmer in the winter.

Steve Winters, United States’ sales director for KBT America, the company that manufactures Kristal-Bond, says the coating cuts 99.6 percent of the sun’s ultraviolet and 90 percent of its infra-red rays. As a result, he points out, cus-tomers can save up to 20 percent on air-conditioning bills and at the same time block out the damaging fac-tors of the sun’s rays.

“KristalBond is a very hard surface,” Winters says. “You can’t scratch it like you can window tint. About the only way to scratch it is if you scratch the glass itself.”

The coating can be ap-plied to almost any glass surface or window, regard-less of the size, curves or contour of the glass, and is easily installed around joints and bolts.

Plus, its crystal-clear color means opt imum

clarity. “The particles in it are very small, so there is no distortion [of the view through the window],” Win-ters says. “In fact, it actu-ally improves the view. [The window] looks even clearer than before.”

It’s especially advanta-geous on large windows, because there is no seam with KristalBond.

Winters explained that KristalBond is installed commercially. The liquid coating dries to a UV and IR ray-repelling shield in about one hour. So, the coating can be applied to all windows in an average-size home in about one day.

And, unlike window tint-ing, this liquid coating will not peel or bubble.
