Kazakh ballet has been well known since the former Soviet Union era and is renowned for its high level of artistic character. In 2013, central Asia's largest theater was completed in the Kazakh capital of Astana and will surely elevate the ballet's status even further. Although focusing on ballet, students also study various ethnic styles and the school has won several national prizes for its superior dancers. This May, we've invited the Kazakhstan National Almaty Ballet School to give a special performance right here at Waseda University. Also performing at the event will be Hanayagi Yoshijiro VI, a 22 year old e-school student at the Faculty of Human Sciences and a member of the Hanayagi School of Japanese Dance who has performed at the National Theater and the Kabuki-za theater in Tokyo. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the most promising dancers of tomorrow up close. Don't miss it!

中央アジアの雄・カザフスタンのバレエは旧ソ連時代から人気が高く、芸術性の高さで知られています。2013年には、首都・アスタナに中央アジア最大級のオペラ劇場が創られ、世界からの注目は今後さらに高まりそうです。今回は、そのカザフスタン国立アルマティ・バレエ学校の学生をお招きし、本学にて特別公演を開催します！ バレエを中心にコンテンポラリーやカザフスタンの民族舞踏を学び、国内外数々のコンクールに入賞者を出している国立バレエ学校で学ぶ将来のバレエダンサーのパフォーマンスを間近で観られる絶好の機会です。 当日は、弱冠22歳にして歌舞伎座・国立劇場をはじめとした全国の舞台で活躍する新進気鋭の日本舞踊家、花柳流の名跡・六代目花柳芳次郎氏（本学人間科学部eスクール在学）による演目もお楽しみいただきます。カザフスタン・バレエと日本舞踊の美の饗宴をこの機会に是非ご堪能ください。
