THE STATUE OF LIBERTY The statue of Liberty (full name – Liberty that shines on the world) — national monument USA, a symbol of freedom, democracy and justice, one of the most famous sculptures in the USA and in the world. It is a gift from the citizens of France for the centenary of the American revolution, is located on Liberty island, about 3 km from Manhattan, M. new York.The goddess of liberty holds a torch in her right hand and a plate in his left. The inscription on the plate reads "eng.JULY IV MDCCLXXVI" ("4 July 1776"), the date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. One leg of the "Freedom" stands on broken chains. The seven rays on the crown symbolize the seven seas and seven continents, as it is considered in the Western geographical tradition. The total weight is about 170 tons. Height from ground to tip of torch is 93 meters (this figure includes the base and the pedestal). Usually the statue is open to visitors, usually arriving by ferry. From the crown, which can be accessed by stairs, offers extensive views of new York Harbor. The Museum, located in the pedestal (accessible by Elevator), is an exhibition on the history of the statue.

The Brooklyn bridge opened in 1883, one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. The bridge reaches a length of 1825 m over the East river in new York city between the districts of Manhattan and Brooklyn. The construction of the bridge lasted 13 years.
