katy perry advert deconstruction
TRANSCRIPT
Katy Perry A d v e r t d e c o n s t r u c t i o n
The advert to the left shows Katy Perry
Promoting her teenage dream album
which I previously deconstructed, I chose
this so I can reflect back to similarities
between the album and advert poster.
This poster continues the colourful and
girlie theme which is seen in the album
however it is a lot different, this poster is
aimed to promote the album to an older
generation rather than young girls, her
pose and Lycra lingerie outfit is aimed at
a male audience as It is quite edgy. Her
pose also portrays a sexual appeal toward
men.
The font used to display her name is the
same candy themed font used on the
album cover, this is done to brand the
album and get fans remembering it.
The love heart pillow in the background
connotes the genre of her album a long
with the vibrancy and colour
The second Katy Perry advert I
found shows a lot more branding
than the previous advert. This
poster replicates the album with
the same candy theme. The picture
is also an image from a music
video to one of the album tracks
‘California Gurls’ . The reason for
doing this is to get fans
memorising certain images or
fonts and associating them with
the artist.
