Kashmere Gardens we have been blessed to witness another year. We are thankful for all that which we were able to accomplish as a congregation in 2016 and there

are plans to build upon the foundation we have established. The motto statement for 2017 is “Let God be seen in 2017”. This is a powerful statement of fact.

In order for God to be seen, we as Christians must display God in our daily lives in order for others to see

God.

Also 2017 is special because this is our 60th year of in existence in the Kashmere Gardens community.

Throughout sixty years we have experienced many “ups”as well as “downs”. Those challenges and triumphs have

only made us trust even more on God’s infinite power. Throughout the year, we will recognize persons and highlight events which have occurred at Kashmere

Gardens. Here are a few events which occurred around the world in 1957.

The first electric watch is introduced Dwight D. “Ike” Eisenhower is the President of United States

and Oscar Holcombe is the Mayor of Houston Average cost of a new home $12,220.00 and yearly wages are

$4,550.00 Cost of gallon of gas is 24 cents

U.S.S.R. (Russia) launches Sputnik satellite into space Toyota begins to sale cars in the USA

The year 1957 was the peak of the Baby Boomer years (persons who were born between 1946-1964.)

Nine black students integrate Central High School in Little Rock, AR. They are later known as the “Little Rock Nine”

Dr. Martin Luther King begin nationwide resistance movement to end racial segregation in the United States.

The Ten Commandments was the #1 film and The Cat in the Hat by Dr. Seuss was the #1 selling book.

Indeed, there has been so many changes since 1957.

Kashmere Gardens lets resolve to look forward to a productive and blessed 2017 as we continue to work out

our soul salvation.

We welcome ALL our Visitors and Guests to Kashmere Gardens. Our Worship service would not have been the

same without YOU!!
