Goals

To bring sustainable livelihood of most vulnerable families by enhancing diversion based irrigation initiative addressing food security and climate justice in Karanjkot and Baburmunda the most drought prone villages of Golamunda Block.

Objectives To develop and conserve natural resources and use of

waste water of the area by developing two Diversion based Irrigation project in two villages and provide irrigation facility to the un irrigated and waste lands to make agricultural use. 

To provide the sustainable irrigation facility with the community management and improve the water management skills among the tribal farmers by indigenous way.

   Use the waste water and streams and improve the irrigation

potentiality, develop agriculture, kitchen gardening, mixed cropping, cash crop, use bio- fertiliser and provide domestic use water in door step.

PROGRAMME UNDERTAKEN DBI COMMAND AREA

Formation of Village DBI Committees and capacity building through training and exposure.

Farmers’ Training on kitchen gardening, SRI, mixed cropping, compost pits and Dry land farming

Fund generation for maintenance of DBI Provide seeds and fertilizer for Kitchen

gardening, cash crop, and mixed cropping Demonstration and Promotion of Kitchen

Gardening and horticulture Water Supply for domestic purpose to all family

INITIATIVE TAKEN IN IN DBI AREA Formation 2 Village committees in two DBI villages

with 30 members represent all catagories Organise regular meetings for promotion of

agriculture and kitchen gardening, Organised 2 exposure visits to the potential DBI and

agriculture promotion Fund generate Rs.3420/- in Baburmund and Rs 4200

in Karanjkot for maintainace the DBI for its sustainability,

48 farmers now with agriculture and kitchen garden by the DBI covered total in 99 acers

Production increased by 25% in rice, 50% in cotton, 65% in kitchen gardening, 12 acers in orchard development, 23 acers land developed

48 family linkage with pipe water for domestic use and kitchen gardening.

CHALLENGES FACED IN IMPLEMENTATIN DBI

Raised the income of the farmers through develop agriculture, kitchen gardening, introduced cash crops like cotton and orchard development through introduce DBI.

Insure community efforts and attitude toward irrigation and mixed cropping to insure food security and rise income of small and marginal farmers.

Insure contribution and community participation in construction and maintenance the DBI.

Continuation and interest generation on mixed cropping, vegetable cultivation, and SRI

LEARNING FROM DBI There are more sides where DBI can be

constructed and promotion of agriculture, kitchengardening and waste land can be used and drought can be checked

By mobilization target people a major proportion of cost of DBI can insured

Proper maintenance can be possible by the DBI committee through capacity building and fund generate by the use of water
