kappa sigma rush
DESCRIPTION
Draft of possible rush scheduleTRANSCRIPT
Champions Quest:As we move towards the end of this academic
year, we are proud to say that we will have brought many more quality brothers in to our chapter. In both the Fall and Spring semesters,
our rush committees ran outstanding programs, bringing in Nineteen great brothers in the Fall
and currently having Fourteen pledges this Spring, all who seem to have bright futures ahead
of them in Kappa Sigma. We look forward to these new members leading our chapter to a
higher standing in the future.
Ritual:This semester, learning the ritual is something that has been taken very seriously, led by our
Grand Master of Ceremonies, Nick Carroll. As of now, with the exception of a few newly initiated
brothers, our entire chapter has at least one level of ritual proficiency, with 15 brothers having
received at least a second level. This is a number that we hope to increase as the semester goes on.
Philanthropy:This past Fall semester, Epsilon-Zeta held our annual
“Knockout for Military Heroes” Philanthropy event. It was a knockout basketball tournament that reached out to all the other Greek organizations on campus as well as many non-affiliated students on campus. The event raised around Five
Hundred dollars, all of which was donated to the Military Heroes Campaign. This spring semester, we are going to be holding a Backyard Olympics that will consist of a variety of contests and games, also that will benefit the Military heroes Campaign. This event will be held on Sunday, April 17th. All are welcome to attend, and any donations would be greatly
appreciated as all the money is being donated to such a wonderful cause.
*If you have any questions about this event, please contact David Griggs(978-808-4224).
Achievements:As most of you may know, the university now has an
accreditation program for all Greek organizations called “Project Arete”. This requires fraternities and sororities to
complete certain tasks and comply with certain requirements. This year, our chapter received a status of
Gold chapter. One of only three chapters to do so. Our results in this program were:
Our Academic Achievement: 61.5% (as a result of falling below all men's gpa avg)
Chapter Management: 97.4% Recruitment and Retention: 97.2% Membership Development: 100% Campus and Community Involvement: 100% External Relations: 95% OVERALL: 91.4%
In the OFSL awards, we were nominated for 11 different awards and won 4 different awards, the most of any
chapter. We were nominated for: Outstanding Community Involvement Outstanding Greek Scholar Outstanding Recruitment and Retention Outstanding New Member Program Outstanding Risk Management and Reduction Outstanding Campus Involvement Excellence in Ritual and Values Outstanding Membership Development Program Outstanding Chapter President Outstanding External Relations Program Fraternity Man of the Year
We ended up winning: Outstanding Greek Scholar-won by Jeffrey Farrell
with a cumulative GPA of 3.85. Outstanding Recruitment and Retention. Excellence in Ritual and Values. Outstanding External Relations Program.
HuskyTHON:This year our chapter, once again,
participated in the campus wide charity fundraising event known as HUSKYTHON.
This event, as im assuming most of you know, is an 18-hour long dance marathon to raise money for the Connecticut’s Children Medical Center and The Children’s Miracle
Network Hospitals. Last year, as a university we raised roughly 156,000 dollars. This year,
our chapter had 33 particiapants in Huskthon, and raised $6,967.50. The event was an amazing experience for all of us, as we got to spend time with these kids and their families. The university upped the
amount raised last year by a large amount, raising $188,558.51.
Upcoming Alumni Events: Semi-Formal: 4/15 - This will cost a
total of $115 per couple to attend. Alumni BBQ – 4/16 – Kappa Sigma
House in Husky Village.
A Thank You to our Alumni:As we are the largest fraternity at the
University of Connecticut, having 83 active members, it would be impossible for our chapter to be successful and thrive at this
university without the guidance and support of our alumni brothers. We thank all of you very much for helping all of us, not only as undergraduates, but also in our transition out of college and into the working world.
For all alumni brothers receiving this newsletter, we ask that you please respond to the following questions. We hope that these questions will build further relations between alumni brothers and undergraduates, as well as provide resources for help for our future-graduating
brothers.
What is your name and bond number?
What pledge class were you a member of?
Where are you from?
Where do you live now that you have graduated?
What year did you begin school/graduate from school?

Where are you currently working?
How did you go about finding a job?
Did you have any connections that helped you find the job you have?
Are you in any position to help future graduating brothers find a job? If so, how?
**If all alumni brothers can please respond to these questions through e-mail to the Alumni Relations Committee, this would be greatly appreciated! Our contact info is below. Please feel free to contact us with any questions you might have.
