Our Year 6 students have met their Kindergarten buddies and we are eager to get to know them and begin sharing our K-6 learning journey together. This morning it was great to see the whole school start our Tuesday (and Thursday) fitness routines, led by our Year 6 leaders. All our new students have been welcomed so warmly by their peers and this is something that our students do so well as a school community. Last Friday the majority of our students cheered each other on at our House Swimming Carnival at the village pool. There is always so much fantastic school spirit on display at these carnivals. Well done kids, it was great to see, as always. Kangaroo Valley Show - Next Friday is the start of the K.V Show and we are very lucky to have an approved holiday day to be able to attend the show so there is no school Friday 15th February. I certainly feel it is important to support our show and there are so many exhibits and events our students can enter. I encourage our K.V.P.S students to enter arts, crafts, photographs, woodwork, produce works for the show. Here is the link to the show website where you can enter the exhibits and gain more information about the events. https://kangaroovalleyshow.org.au/ At the end of last year many of our students were given wooden box projects with a set of instructions to enter in the woodwork section of this year’s show. These were very kindly pre-cut and packaged up by Fox & Quail farm. We would love to see as many of these entered in the show as possible to support this section of the exhibits. Many students were also given seed packets with a variety of seeds to plant and harvest to be used for the main produce display. We would love to see as much produce coming from our students for that display as possible. Produce can be dropped up at the show for the display on Thursday 14. See you at the show! Mr Andrew Smee P&C Meeting – Our P&C are meeting this Friday 8.30 am in the school library. All welcome. We would love to see some new faces. Principals Report

How wonderful it has been welcoming everyone back for our 2019 adventure at K.V.P.S! Our Year 6 students have met their Kindergarten buddies and we are eager to get to know them and begin sharing our K-6 learning journey together. This morning it was great to see the whole school start our Tuesday (and Thursday) fitness routines, led by our Year 6 leaders.

SLOW DOWN TO 40 WHEN BUS LIGHTS FLASH PUBLIC AWARENESS CAMPAIGN JANUARY 2018

NSW has one of the largest bus fleets in Australia. More than 3850 buses operate in the Sydney area, while another 1000 buses service the Newcastle, Wollongong and Blue Mountains areas. In

addition, more than 3000 bus services operate in rural and regional NSW.

The NSW Government is committed to working with industry and the community to improve safety around buses and is implementing a campaign targeting motorists to highlight the laws around bus

flashing lights. The issue Research commissioned by the Centre for Road Safety highlighted a need to improve motorists’ awareness of, and compliance with, road rules around bus flashing lights.

Lights flash on the front and back of a bus when the bus is picking up or setting down school children. By law you must slow down to 40km/h when bus lights flash.

Research and scientific analysis show that a pedestrian hit by a car travelling at 40km/h has twice the chance of surviving the collision than if the car was travelling 50km/h.

Travelling speeds higher than 40km/h greatly increases the risk of injury and death to pedestrians.
