Reconciliation Week This week, students and staff observed National Reconciliation Week, with
activities held in classrooms. National Reconciliation Week is a time when
we celebrate the relationships we share with Aboriginal and Torres Strait
Islander peoples and learn about our shared histories, cultures and
achievements. The theme for 2019 is Grounded Truth: Walk Together in
Courage.
National Sorry Day - 26/5 Kandos Public School acknowledged National Sorry Day
on Sunday. We are honoured to have the picture book
‘Sorry Day’ by Coral Vass and Dub Leffler in our school
library.
Congratulations! Congratulations and praise go to the thirty students who represented
Kandos Public School in the Art of Speech and Drama section of the
Gulgong Eisteddfod on Friday, 24th, Saturday, 25th and Sunday, 26th May.
Each of our competitors has displayed dedication and devotion to the task of
learning their lines, with countless hours of practice and rehearsals being put
in. Outstanding results were received by many of our
competitors, including the students who were entered
into the Schools Group Day on Friday. The group took
out First Place after performing two choral verses. Well
done! A very proud moment. Their winning trophy now
has pride of place in our school’s trophy cabinet. A list of
individual Eisteddfod results follows my report.
