Habemus Papam
On Wednesday March 13th
2013 Jorge Mario Bergoglio the
Archbishop of Buenos Aires,
Argentina was elected by the
college of Cardinals to be our
next pope and assumed the
name Francis.
As Archbishop he turned down
the opportunity to live in the
palatial residence, opting for a
spartan apartment. He cooks his
own meals, takes the bus and
does all of this operating on
only one lung.
Pope Francis is a member of the
Society of Jesus, a Jesuit.

THE EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS
A presentation was made on February
6th by Noreen Hishon on the Eucha-
ristic Congress held in Dublin Ireland
in June 2012.
K-W Serrans in attendance at the
Congress were, Lou and Carole Reit-
zel, Darlene Lustic as well as Noreen
and Lee Hishon.
Noreen’s presentation gave an overall
picture of the event with highlights of
the workshops held.
One notable workshop on Eucharist
was presented by Fr. Dan Crosby Capu-
chin who spoke of Becoming the
Eucharist. We need to understand what
this means:
Jesus took Bread,
Jesus blessed it,
Jesus broke it,
Jesus gave it,
He wants us to reach out to others peo-
ple as He reaches out to us. Noreen was
assisted in her presentation with a
PowerPoint visual composed by Lee
Fr. Frank Freitas is author of Are We There
Yet? the latest book published by Catholic
Register Books. It’s a practical guide that
Freitas says demonstrates that despite the
answer we seek not being as clear as we
hope, finding our purpose is attainable if we
are really willing to reach out for it. With
the desire to help Catholics find their pur-
pose, Fr. Freitas has brought together a col-
lection of reflections on his life, Scripture
and the history of the Church
Fr. Toby Collins, C.R. Vocation Director for the Congregation of the Resurrection and also
our club Chaplain was our speaker at the March 20th meeting.
He explained the difference between a priest serving in an order or community like the
Resurrectionists and the diocesan clergy. Since he is an order priest the emphasis was on
the Resurrectionists. Order priests live in community unlike the diocesan priests who often
live alone in the rectory. Order priests answer to the Spiritual Leader formerly known as
the Superior. Diocesan men answer to the Bishop.
The Resurrectionists are serving in seventeen countries around the world. Fr Toby has be-
come involved in developing videos of vocation stories and vocation events for presenta-
tions to young and old in the promotion of vocations. Former club Chaplain Fr. Wojciech
Kuzma who planned to join with Fr. Toby was unable to attend.
