Health policy – the German situation

No added value of insulin analogs?• On February 21st, 2008 the German GBA
(health policy group) has recommended no further reimbursement for rapid acting analogues in Germany
• A previous Health Technology Assessment by the IQWiG Institute found no added value compared to regular human insulin in type 1 diabetes
• Unless the German Health Ministry decides not to pass this bill in April modern insulins will not be reimbursed as long as they remain 20-30% more expensive than human insulin
How did this happen ?
