FROM THE RELIEVING DEPUTY.....
PITTWATER PSSA 2020
Welcome back to another year of PSSA in 2020.
Shortly, our teachers will be busy selecting teams for the upcoming Summer PSSA Season. These sides are representative teams chosen to compete against the 8 other schools in our Pittwater PSSA Zone. Our Summer Season runs for 3 weeks in Term 1 and then recommences in Week 9 Term 3 for the remainder of the year. The competition includes semi-finals and finals when not affected by wet/extreme weather.
Congratulations to all our students who will be trialling for sporting teams this term. Our participation rates have always been fantastic and we are impressed with our students for wanting to be a part of these teams.
Shortly you will be advised of training times for each team. Our coaches select times to train before and after school that suit their availability and the availability of the majority of the team, where possible. Sometimes clashes with other extra-curricular activities are unavoidable. If this occurs players are to please speak to their coach.
The first round of the competition starts on Friday March 6 (Week 6). The timing of our competition has moved this year to the morning to combat the extreme temperatures we often see in Terms 1 and 4. This will mean that our Friday PSSA days will look like this for our teams and coaches:
• 8:55am – Class rolls marked then report to PSSA coach (designated area)• 9:10am – PSSA teams on buses to grounds• 9:40am approx – Game 1 (juniors)• 10:15am approx – Game 2 (seniors)• 11:00am – PSSA teams on buses returning to school• 11:20am – PSSA teams return• 11:50am – Classes resume after morning lunch break
All the draws and locations for games will be made available via the Team App (Pittwater Zones PSSA). Additionally all results and up to the minute updates around extreme/wet weather can be found here too. I strongly suggest that if your child is involved in a PSSA sporting team that you download this app. Instructions on how to download the app is on the last page of this newsletter.
Until next time,
Jono Rosconi
