  • Dear Parent/Guardian, Students who receive instruction in our Categorical Programs of Academic Life Skills and Mixed Abilities typically access state standards through instructional materials published by a company known as n2y. One tool that n2y utilizes is a newspaper called News-2-You. Students connect weekly with the world by reading about current events in the News-2-You newspaper. Practice sheets for a variety of skills accompany the newspaper each week. The activities use the vocabulary from the weekly news and target different academic areas. In this packet, you will find this week’s News-2-You Newspaper and the accompanying academic activities to support your child’s continued learning. Directions: Read the story in the packet. After reading the story, complete the various practice sheets located in the packet. Each practice sheet will have an individual set of directions.

For students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP) who need additional support, Parents/Guardians can refer to the Specialized Instruction and Supports webpage, contact their child’s IEP manager, and/or speak to the special education provider when you are contacted by them.
