documentation of the early 1900s DuPont family Dairy Barn, in preparation for exterior restoration and interior

renovations as an exhibit and conference center. The award-winning project includes a new LEED-certified addition

Borough of Bally Municipal Building, Bally, Pennsylvania. Principal Architect for design and permit documentation

for a new municipal administrative building including police administration, municipal vehicle parking and

Boyertown Area Historical Society Condition Assessment, Boyertown, Pennsylvania. Interior and exterior

assessment of the ca. 1900 building, originally a residence and subsequently the home of St. Columbkill Roman

Catholic Church. Condition assessment and site documentation used to prepare repair recommendations for

treatment of existing features and finishes.

Brooke Elementary School Rehabilitation, Spring-Ford Area School District, Royersford, Pennsylvania. Design

and permit documentation for rehabilitation of two existing restrooms to bring them into ADA compliance. Project

involved coordination with the district’s Office of Maintenance & Operations and rapid turnaround to accommodate

the school calendar year.

Bucknell University Architectural Preservation Master Plan, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania. Preservation Architect for

preparation of Condition Assessment and Historic Summary for four buildings surrounding a historic campus

quadrangle in conjunction with a campus-wide architectural and landscape architectural Master Plan for the

treatment and use of historic buildings and landscapes. (with JMA)

Capitol Building Study, Richmond, Virginia. Assisting Preservation Architect for survey, assessment, and existing

conditions documentation of interior and exterior building conditions, in order to produce recommendations for the

restoration and repair of Thomas Jefferson’s 1780s capitol building. (with JMA)

Caramoor Center for Music and the Arts Preservation Plan, Katonah, New York. Preservation Architect for

preparation of existing conditions drawings illustrating areas of deterioration and vegetation damage to four historic

estate buildings, ca. 1930. Building deterioration was primarily focused on mission tile roofs and cement stucco walls,

particularly at the medieval Mediterranean-style Rosen House villa. The drawings were referenced in a preservation

plan and subsequent stucco repair project led by JMA conservators. (with JMA)

Cheltenham Township Historic Preservation Consulting, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. Project Architect

for Historic Preservation Consulting to the Cheltenham Township Historical Commission, including attendance at

Christ Church Cathedral Rehabilitation, Louisville, Kentucky. Assisting Preservation Architect for Design and

Construction Documents for interior decorative elements of the Cathedral, previously renovated by JMA.

Preservation Architect for Design and Construction Documents for the renovation of adjacent Dean’s Hall into a

handicapped-accessible day care, meeting space, and Sunday school facility. (with JMA)

Christ Church – Episcopal Addition, Reading, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for Design and Construction

Documents for a new entrance addition to the nineteenth-century brownstone cathedral. Work included a new

accessible garden approach, two-story entrance foyer, restrooms, elevator, and open staircase to the second floor

Church of the Holy Trinity Master Plan Implementation Project, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for

Design and Construction Documents for the implementation of a Facilities Master Plan for the 1859 brownstone

church on Rittenhouse Square. Proposed renovations include the addition of an elevator and egress stair tower and

installation of an interior ADA ramp, ADA-accessible restrooms, and classrooms for children's day care. Project

required coordination with and approval from the Philadelphia Historical Commission. (with JMA)

City of Norwalk Comprehensive Historic Preservation Plan, Norwalk, Connecticut. Assisting Preservation

Architect for preparation of existing conditions drawings illustrating areas of deterioration in nine historic buildings

owned by the City, including an art studio, municipal meeting hall, town jail, visitor’s center, and the Lockwood-

Mathews Mansion Museum, among others. Building plans, elevations, and sections were prepared for inclusion in

the Preservation Plan, intended to guide the Norwalk Historical Commission in the repair and maintenance of its

historic resources. (with JMA)

Code Review and Architectural Consulting, Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Principal Architect and design consultant

for interior fitout and design projects for Thomas L. Zeigler, PE, Inc. Ongoing projects include residential,

commercial, municipal, and industrial clients throughout Montgomery, Delaware, and Berks Counties.

Colebrookdale Railroad Preservation Trust, Boyertown and Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Schematic Design

documentation for a new metal train station in Boyertown, as well as the relocation and rehabilitation of an existing

1887 train station reportedly designed by renowned Architect, Frank Furness, to Pottstown. The documentation

provided was submitted by the CRPT with grant applications to support the restoration of the Colebrookdale

Railroad and dual-station project as a scenic tourist destination in southeastern Pennsylvania. Following grant

approval, VA&P continues to provide preservation consulting and design services for preparation of bid documents

for the relocation and fitout of the Furness station.

Delaware Department of Transportation. Assisting Preservation Architect for locating, identifying and mapping all

historic structures in two Route 113 corridor counties, via Geographic Information Systems software. (with JMA)

Delaware State Hospital Fence, Wilmington, Delaware. Preservation Architect for existing conditions

documentation and Construction Documents for relocation of a historic iron fence and brick walls associated with

the rehabilitation of Interstate 295 south of the Delaware State Hospital. Project was completed in accordance with

Section 106 requirements for location of an adjacent burial ground. (with JMA)

Eden Day Spa and Salon, Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit Documentation for interior fitout of an

existing retail space for use as a new 2,400 s.f. day spa. Project required close coordination with landlord and tenant

representatives to incorporate custom treatment and massage rooms, client locker areas and amenities, reception

area, staff office and break room, and specialty storage areas.

First Presbyterian Church Community Room Renovation, Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Design and Construction

Documentation for renovation of existing storage and abandoned restroom space into new pass-through kitchenette

and custom storage. Preparation of a three-dimensional computer model to use for fundraising and committee

presentations in seeking approval for redecorating of the existing Community Room, in collaboration with FPC

committee members.

Forum and Finance Building Restroom Rehabilitation, Capitol Complex, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Historic

Preservation Consultant to Chris Dawson Architect for the preservation design review of proposed renovations to

forty-four historic restrooms throughout the ca. 1930s Forum and Finance Buildings. Project involved in-depth

review of design development drawings, photographs, meeting minutes, and historic drawings for the preparation of

a memorandum of opinion relative to The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Rehabilitation of Historic

Properties.

General Lafayette’s Quarters Documentation, Valley Forge National Historical Park, Valley Forge,

Pennsylvania. Project Architect for assessment of the roof structures on three sections of a house that was

reportedly inhabited by the Marquis de Lafayette during the 1777-1778 encampment at Valley Forge. Detailed

drawings produced in accordance with National Park Service standards, including both English and Metric

measurements. (with JMA)

Gonzaga Villa Rehabilitation, Cape May, New Jersey. Assisting Preservation Architect for Design Development,

Construction Documents, and Construction Administration for the $1.6 million renovation of an oceanfront retreat

for the Maryland Province of the Society of Jesus. Historic exterior features were restored, in addition to the

installation of upgraded bathrooms, kitchen, bedrooms, and building systems on the interior. (with JMA)

Historic Schuylkill Elementary School Adaptive Reuse Feasibility Study, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Project

Architect for existing conditions survey and assessment of a 1930 elementary school located in the Phoenixville Area

School District. Coordination with Friends of Schuylkill School and PASD Administrative staff to determine program

needs and design a plan for adaptive reuse of the school for Administrative offices. (with JMA)

Hollins University Campus Heritage Preservation Program, Roanoke, Virginia. Preservation Architect for

preparation of Condition Assessment, Architectural Design Standards and client-specific Treatment Guidelines in

compliance with The Secretary for the Interior’s Standards for the maintenance of historic structures on campus.

Review of case studies for historic campus buildings to verify appropriate treatment recommendations. (with JMA)

Independence National Historical Park Rehabilitation, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for existing

conditions survey of landscape features and architectural elements for the preparation of repair and maintenance

recommendations. Preparation of layered site plans and maps indicating known and suspected archeological and

historical sites to be used as reference for rehabilitating the original historic landscape of the site. (with JMA)

Jackson’s Headquarters Museum Feasibility Study, Winchester, Virginia. Preservation Architect for existing

conditions documentation of the 1854 cottage used by General "Stonewall" Thomas Jackson as a headquarters

during the winter of 1861-1862. Assistance with Feasibility Study for the addition of an accessible approach,

entrance, and public restrooms for the museum. (with JMA)

The Jesuit Center Renovation Programming Study, Wernersville, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for existing

conditions documentation for the former Jesuit Novitiate of St. Isaac Jogues, built in 1930 on more than 250 acres.

Construction of a 25 s.f. working scale model of the building and surrounding landscape. Coordination with facility

and program staff for the preparation of a conceptual design to upgrade the building’s accommodations for spiritual

retreatants and retired Jesuit Community members. (with JMA)

Keystone Specific Chiropractic Center Fitout, Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit Documentation for

interior fitout, code compliance and accessibility upgrades to an existing office building for use as a new 1,350 s.f.

chiropractic office. Project required close coordination with municipal authorities for inclusion of an X-Ray Room and

required ADA improvements.

Kirkwood Camp & Conference Center Coop Hall Accessibility, Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit

Documentation for rehabilitation of existing storage space and abandoned toilet rooms into new kitchen storage and

two new accessible restrooms within the existing Coop Dining Hall.

Lamb Tavern Springhouse Stabilization and Repair, Glenmoore, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for existing

conditions assessment/documentation and preparation of a scope of work for the stabilization of the 400 s.f.

collapsing historic springhouse. Work completed as part of an emergency grant from the National Trust for Historic

Preservation to the Wallace Township Historical Commission. (with JMA)

Leaf Creek House Rehabilitation, Douglassville, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit Documentation for the design

of accessibility and code-compliance upgrades to the pre-Civil War Colonial farmhouse for rehabilitation as business

offices and reception facilities. The design achieved minimal intrusion on the original floor plan of the 4,300 s.f.

building, which sits on 7 acres in beautiful Berks County. The project required sensitive treatment of significant

architectural features, such as a Mercer Tile fire place, as well as a Conditional Use Hearing presentation to the local

township and subsequent coordination with contractors relevant to scope adjustments.

Harleysville Residence, Lower Salford Township, Pennsylvania. Principal Architect for preparation of Schematic

Design documents for a 10,700 s.f. Mediterranean-style custom home. Project involved detailed collaboration with

the owner to incorporate very specific preferences for floor layout, interior progression, exterior approach, and

exterior views, while working within restrictions established by the county and a previously-established conservation

easement.

Linfield Historical Resources Survey, Linfield, Pennsylvania. Assisting Preservation Architect for site survey and

case-by-case investigation to determine locations and characteristics of historically significant structures in the

Linfield and Limerick areas. (with JMA)

Old St. David’s Church at Radnor Restoration, Wayne, Pennsylvania. Preservation Architect for existing

conditions documentation of the 1715 church, suffering from structural and vegetation damage. Drawings were

included in an overall assessment and repair recommendations report for restoration of the building. (with JMA)

Phoenix Ferris Wheel Restoration, Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Project Architect assisting with survey,

assessment, and documentation of hundreds of disassembled steel sections of the last remaining Phoenix Steel

Company ferris wheel in the country. Having been transported from Mississippi back to its original home in

Phoenixville, the ferris wheel is being restored under the stewardship of the Schuylkill River Heritage Center as a

centerpiece of Phoenixville Borough’s community development movement. (with TLZ PE)

Print Copy Design Solutions Rehabilitation, Trappe, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit Documentation for the

expansion of an existing print shop into a larger, 5,000 s.f. warehouse space. The design included accessibility and

fire protection upgrades, a customer service area, and storage space on two levels.

Rabbit Run Residence Restoration, Malvern, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit Documentation for the design of a

new sunroom for a Tudor-style home that suffered severe fire damage. The new sunroom design replicated existing

materials and details to the greatest extent possible to allow for seamless integration with the original home where

damaged features were restored.

Roosevelt Island Smallpox Hospital Stabilization, Roosevelt Island, New York. Preservation Architect for existing

conditions documentation of early 1850s Smallpox Hospital designed by James Renwick, Jr. JMA designed shoring

and stabilization of the hospital ruins as part of a larger project with Wallace Roberts & Todd to create a new public

park and landscape feature. (with JMA)

Salem Belleman’s Union Church Restoration, Mohrsville, Pennsylvania. Principal Architect for reconstruction of a

54-foot-high brick and cast stone bell tower previously rendered unusable due to masonry deterioration. Project

included matching existing materials and detailing of the 1922 tower, removal and protection of the historic 1,600 lb.

bell, coordination with the church’s Bell Tower Committee, and presentations to the Congregation. (with TLZ PE)

Sanctuary Counseling, Douglassville, Pennsylvania. Principal Architect for code interpretation and design of the

interior layout of a 5,300 s.f. counseling facility. Client requirements included private counseling offices, open

gathering areas, activity rooms, and enclosed porches for private reflection. Following completion of design

documents, an ink perspective rendering was created for the client’s use in advertising. (with TLZ PE)

Shenton Road Kitchen Expansion, West Chester, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit Documentation for a one-story

addition to a residential kitchen wing, to match the existing residence while maintaining existing roof lines and

exceptionally close site setbacks.

Shipley School Historic Resource Impact Study, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. Preservation Architect in coordination

with MGA Partners for preparation of a Historic Resource Impact Study pertaining to proposed renovations and

additions to the historic Upper School/Administration Building and Carriage House and creation of a new dormitory

and campus quadrangle. (with JMA)

Spring-Ford Area School District Monument Signage, Royersford, Pennsylvania. Principal Architect for design of

a brick and cast stone monument for the primary entrance to the High School 10-12 Grade Center. Project involved

coordination with the district’s Office of Maintenance & Operations and collaboration with electronic message board

manufacturers to comply with the local zoning ordinance. Final deliverable consisted of a 3-dimensional computer

model of the monument and electronic sign. (with P. Richard Frantz, AIA)

Spring Ridge Corporate Campus, Wyomissing, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for preparation of construction

documents for a new three-story, 5,000 s.f. single-tenant office building to fit within an existing corporate park.

St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church Renovations and Addition, Glenmoore, Pennsylvania. Assisting Preservation

Architect in preparation of construction documents for expansion of the historic nave, installation of a new narthex

and an accessible entrance ramp, and accessibility and fire protection upgrades to the circa 1833 church. (with JMA)

St. John the Baptist Rehabilitation, Pottstown, Pennsylvania. Design and Permit Documentation for an

accessible restroom within an existing space behind the sanctuary of the 1930 Byzantine Baptist Church, retaining

existing storage areas, circulation and an accessible entrance.

The Stone House Foundation Historic Structures Report, Stephens City, Virginia. Assisting Preservation

Architect for analysis and documentation of five Civil War-era structures for the purpose of creating an Interpretive

Visitors’ Center in downtown Stephens City. Assistance with preparation of a Historic Structure Report describing

existing conditions and discussing potential restoration and re-use of the Stone House. (with JMA)

Strawbridge & Clothier Department Store Rehabilitation, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for

identification and protection of historic finishes and features, preparation of detailing for core and shell

rehabilitation, and Construction Administration during demolition and rehabilitation work. Inspection of exterior

stone facades, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration for exterior repair

implementation. Coordination with the building owner, NPS, and PHMC for appropriate and sensitive design of

interior spaces for retail and office tenants in compliance with The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards, USGBC LEED

Certification requirements, and the Federal Historic Preservation Tax Credit requirements. The core and shell

rehabilitation project, led by BLT Architects, won a Preservation Achievement Grand Jury Award from the

Assisting Preservation Architect for preparation of construction documents for restored façade at the location of a

former overhead pedestrian bridge; assessment of exterior masonry conditions; recommendations for phased repair,

maintenance, and rehabilitation; and construction administration services for exterior repairs to the 1928

The Thomas Clarke House Preservation Plan, Princeton Battlefield, Mercer County, New Jersey. Assisting

Preservation Architect in the conclusion of a detailed study of the history, archeology, architectural evolution,

Revolutionary War’s pivotal Battle of Princeton. Preservation Plan concluded in a multi-disciplinary presentation of

findings to representatives of the Clarke House Committee, Princeton Battlefield Society, and State of New Jersey in

preparation for the next phase of physical restoration. (with JMA)

Thomas Jefferson Building Condition Assessment, Capitol Hill, Washington, D.C. Historic Preservation

Consultant to Entech Engineering, Inc. for the condition assessment of exterior windows and masonry and the

Neptune Fountain at the ca. 1897 national monument. Project involved review of field survey notes, photographs,

and conservation reports for the preparation of a repair recommendation database.

Trinity House Apartments Occupied Renovations, Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for the

preparation of schematic design plans illustrating accessibility upgrades and exterior improvements to the 62,000

s.f. Section 8 housing project. Working closely with Chesapeake Community Advisors and CH&E Construction, Inc.,

the project team collaborated on an application to the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, which included

drawings, energy audit, and detailed scope of work. (with Arch Concepts)

United States Naval Asylum Documentation, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for Historic American

Building Survey (HABS) documentation of architectural elements of the building, in preparation for renovations to

the 1833 Biddle Hall following prolonged damage to the building due to fire and the elements. All survey sketches

United States Post Office of Boone Preservation Design Review, Boone, North Carolina. Project Architect for the

evaluation of proposed rehabilitation of the National Register-listed post office for postal, municipal, and visitors

center use. Subsequent preparation of a preservation design review memorandum for use by the Boone Town

Council in determining the appropriateness of the proposed work. (with JMA)

Upper Providence Residence Addition, Collegeville, Pennsylvania. Principal Architect for a 3-story, 2,300 s.f.

kitchen expansion and home renovation to an existing bungalow. The renovations include a master bedroom suite,

linen closet, laundry chute, great room, dining room, enlarged kitchen with breakfast bar, powder room, new

mudroom entrance and covered porch, future finished basement, and an additional 3-story interior staircase. All plan

elements designed to complement scale and character of existing residence, while protecting unique windows and

architectural features.

Varsity Hall, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. Preservation Architect for existing conditions

documentation of the first university infirmary, built in 1858. Preparation of architectural and construction details for

stabilization of the brick building while being moved 185 feet to an alternative location on campus. (with JMA)

Wheeling Annex Architectural Survey, Wheeling, West Virginia. Preservation Architect for existing conditions

documentation and historical study of four mixed-use buildings located in the Wheeling Historic District. The

buildings were located adjacent to the Wheeling Court House and subsequently demolished to make way for the

Court House expansion. (with JMA)

Wilson Residence Addition, Reading, Pennsylvania. Project Architect for Design and Construction Documents for

a 1,200 square foot addition to a private residence in Exeter Township. Scope of work included a master bedroom

expansion, new master bath, closets, kitchen and living room expansion, music room, garage workshop, garden

storage, and deck. (with JMA)

Wycombe Train Station Restoration, Walton, Pennsylvania. Preservation Architect for existing conditions

documentation of historic train station. Assisted with coordination of PennDOT requirements for preparation of

construction documents to restore wood doors and windows, stained glass, slate roof, wood siding and trim, and

construct a new exterior wooden walkway. (with JMA)
