JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY SOFTBALL WILDCATS TAKE THREE GAMES AT THE ECAC FALL CLASSIC Swansea, MA- The JWU Wildcats captured 3 victories during their play day on October 2nd. The Wildcats defeated Curry 3-2, Worcester State 6- 3 and Eastern Nazarene College 17-3. They were paced offensively by Cynthia Proby with 2 homeruns and 5 RBI’s. On the mound Jen Corona led the way as she pitched 8 scoreless innings. The day started with a 3-2 win against Curry College. The Wildcats scored first when Cynthia Proby led off the game with a double and scored on a double by Kristen Solari. They struck again in the 3rd when Angelica Reyes and Carly Cabral scored on a single by Solari. Curry rallied back in the 5th scoring 2 runs on 2 hits but the Wildcats were able to shut the door winning the game 3-2. Jen Corona pitched 4 scoreless innings for the win. Next up were the Worcester State Lancers. The Wildcats scored early and oſten as they scored in all but 1 inning. Cynthia Proby, Emily Gorecki and Emily Schaper each recorded 2 hits with Schaper having a single, a double and 2 RBI’s. Alex Fantasia entered as a relief pitcher and threw a strong 4 innings. In the last game of the day, the Wildcats exploded for 17 runs and 16 hits. There were runs scored in every inning but the most came in the second when 7 runs crossed the plate. Proby and Natalie Kehlbeck each hit a long ball while Solari recorded 3 more RBIs. The pitching was strong again as all 3 pitchers combined to give up only 3 runs strike out 6 and only give up 4 hits in the game. FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK! 2014 ALUMNI GAME The JWU softball team welcomed back the many softball alumni on October 17th for the annual Alumni Game. The alumni proved “they still got it” as they competed against the current team. It proved to be a fun game with lots of great plays, fun and excitement for both squads. Although the current team came out on top, the alumni proved to be formidable opponents. Following the game everyone enjoyed great food and the opportunity to catch up with former teammates, family and friends.

MEET THE NEW COACHING STAFF

Prior to her arrival in Providence, Camara-Harvey spent six seasons as the head coach at Drexel University, leaving as the school's second all-time winningest coach. During her tenure at the school she

coached 21 All-CAA selections. Prior to this Camara-Harvey spent five years as the assistant coach at the University of North Carolina Wilmington.

Stefanie joins the staff after 2 years as an assistant coach at Bryant University and 4 years as a varsity letter winner at Hofstra University. At Bryant she was an integral part of the team’s transition from Division II to

Division I. She worked primarily with the outfielders and hitters. While a student athlete at Hofstra, Stef was named an NFCA All-America Scholar Athlete and received the CAA Student Athlete Award. She also competes as an amateur MMA fighter in the New England area.

2015 WILDCAT SOFTBALL SCHEDULE

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

The JWU softball team participated in the 2014 Operation Christmas Child. They compiled 8 shoe boxes for children of ages 6-12. The boxes included toys, hygiene items , school supplies and other goods to be sent to needy children around the world.

CELEBRATING AS FAMILY

This fall the softball team celebrated Thanksgiving as a family. The team enjoyed an evening of learning more about each other, fun games and great food.

SOFTBALL TEAM TAKES HOME

ACADEMIC HONORS

Once again the JWU

softball team has shown

that they can be

successful not only on the field but in the

classroom as well. The softball team was

recently honored by the National

Fastpitch Coaches Association as an All-

Academic team. The Wildcats ranked

15th nationally among NCAA Division III

institutions, posting a 3.45 for the 2013-

2014 academic year which was also the

highest GPA in the GNAC.

JWU also had 12 players earn NFCA All-

America Scholar Athlete honors after

posting at least a 3.5 GPA last season.
