Introduction

How can the youth make a brighter future for the City of Kingston? That is the question that brought us all here today that we the youth can convince you that we can

contribute to making the city of Kingston a better place.

Have you ever stared into the night sky and wondered about the beauty that constantly surrounds us? How the stars shine so brightly and the moon sheds its white glowing light on our earth? Have you ever watched night turn into breaking daylight? These are beautiful sights and we, the young people of St. Andrew’s School in the City of Kingston, want to ensure that these wonderful sights will continue to amaze the many generations to come.

We are committed to make a difference by using our skills and talents. We will make you convinced that there are ways the youth can make a difference and make the city of Kingston a brighter place to live and play in.

Reasons:

1) Firstly, at our school, we have a range of languages. Many of the students at St. Andrew’s can speak English and other languages fluently. We use will these skills to improve the English in adults. We will help adults learn the way we learn using technology so that they can understand what we learn. By making use of the different gifts and talents we will help make our community welcoming and friendly environment.

2) Secondly, The Clayton South landfill is a big issue and boy, does it stink! We can use our skills and the knowledge of the impact of waste on the environment and write to government bodies to highlight the health risks that the community is exposed to and to negotiate ways to solve this problem. As trees make clean air, we will encourage gardeners to plant more trees to make Kingston a greener, brighter place for people to live and play.

3) Thirdly, we believe that we can make Kingston a place where everyone belongs and lives side by side in harmony and we can use our social and emotional skills to help others in the community learn about the importance of belonging. At our school, we supported the National Day against bullying. During this day, we had a march, in which the whole school community participated.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, we believe that the youth can use their skills in technology, their knowledge of composting and environmental issues and use our range of languages to help translate for those who need help to communicate. Together, the youth of the city of Kingston can make a brighter future and ensure the beauty that surrounds is preserved. Thanks you for listening and please vote for us.
