Junior League of Detroit Established in 1914, the Junior League of Detroit is an organization of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women and improving communities through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. The focus of our volunteer efforts is to initiate community-based collaborative partnerships that work to broaden the educational, cultural recreational, and health opportunities for children and families in Metro Detroit. What Is the Junior League of Detroit? We are an organization of diverse women, who believe that trained volunteers can make an effective and lasting impact in our communities. We are committed to helping children and families in the Metropolitan Detroit area. JLD members span generations, demographics and cultures. Community Assistance Grants The Junior League of Detroit awards annual grants to organizations in Wayne County that provide services to improve the health and welfare of children and their families. JLD grants have funded a wide variety of initiatives – from technology to summer camps to recycling programs. Fundraising is Essential Our signature fundraiser, the biennial Designers’ Show House, has raised close to $4 million to support the JLDs programs and projects since our first Show House in 1976. Our 21st DesignersShow House will be held May 7-22. Other smaller fundraisers have helped to support our projects, and have ranged from professionally-staged Follies to Festivals, from an Upscale Garage Sale to the American Girl Fashion Show. Established “Pioneer House” for children. Created the Pediatric Mobile Team with Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Forged community partner- ships in the 48215 zip code. Established on going “Kids in the Kitchen” programming. Began the Early Childhood Literacy Initiative. Formed the Belle Isle Sensory Trail with community partners. Files must be submitted in one of the following formats. Failure to do so may incur additional production charges. Formats accepted: PDF (all fonts embedded), JPG, EPS or TIFF. Programs accepted: Files for InDesign and Illustrator. Pictures and fonts should be included. All art images should be 300 DPI at 100% of the size used in the ad. All color ads should be converted to CMYK. For disk submissions, please include a color printout of the ad. For digital submission, please include a Press Ready PDF file for viewing.
