Sure, it's the great Americandream. Be your own boss, set yourown hours, keep all the profits foryourself - no wonder opening upyour very own business is the ultimate goal of so many. But is itright for YOU? (After all, over 50%of all new businesses fail in just thefirst year.)
O.K., then how do you know ifyou are "right" for entrepreneurship? Ask yourselfthese questions: Am I willing towork ten or twelve hours everyday? Can I accept not taking avacation for perhaps a couple ofyears or more? Am I willing totake all the money I' ve saved andthen probably go into debt to openmy business? What can I offer thatothers already in the same business
ENTREPRENEURSHIP - IS IT FOR YOU?do not? Does my spouse supportthis venture?
These are just a few of thequestions you must answer "yes" ifyou are to have even a chance ofsucceeding. Sure, being in business for yourself can be wonderful and rewarding. Butalas, it is not for everyone. Therecan be a huge gap between thedream and the reality. And,frankly even with a total commitment, you have onlycrossed the first hurdle.

The American Jobs CreationAct (the 2004 Act) is the name ofthe tax legislation that was passedin the fall of 2004. Within the 2004Act is a potentially very beneficialprovision for a manufacturingdeduction that kicks in for taxyears beginning in 2005. It willapply to all domestic productionactivity, which has been definedvery broadly to include virtuallyall manufacturing plus certainarchitectural and engineeringwork, handlers of agriculturalproducts, software companies, electric, gas & water companiesand construction companies (thislist should not be considered as all-inclusive). There may be certainaccounting processes that shouldbe put into place before the end ofthe year to help maximize this newdeduction.
