In recognition of the 61st Anniversary of the Historical Society of the Fort Hill Country and the 30th Anniversary of the Fort Hill Heritage Museum, President and Curator Dottie Watson cordially invites all Mundelein Residents to a Patriotic Celebration and an annual Open House on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 9:45 a.m. at the Fort Hill Heritage Museum, 601 E. Noel Drive (across from Fairhaven School). The event will include patriotic music, guest speakers, a keynote address by Mayor Steve Lentz, honored guest speakers, and refreshments. The Rev. Dr. Brian Paulson, Pastor and Head of Staff, First Presbyterian Church of Libertyville will offer the invocation and Mundelein’s First Lady Michelle Lentz will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Music will be provided by Antioch Patriotic Winds Ensemble. Joshua Poucher will sing the National Anthem. Honored guest speakers include: Captain James D. Hawkins, Commanding Officer-U.S. Navy; Don Carter, WW II Vet; Honor Guard Commander Wally Frasier-Mundelein American Legion Post 867; Honor Guard Commander Joe Trimble-Mundelein VFW Post 7191; Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran, Jr., and Dottie Watson, President and Curator for the Historical Society of the Fort Hill Country and the Fort Hill Heritage Museum. Mundelein’s Old Number One—a 1925 Stoughton Fire Truck—will be on display as an added attraction. During the Mundelein Community Days parade on July 2, Northbrook’s Ron Bernardi will provide Calliope. The Fort Hill Heritage Museum will be open from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. on July 1. Todd attended the horseshoe tournament every year and he and his partner won multiple times. The parade route will travel Division to California to Hawley to MHS. The parade will form in the Metra station parking lot not on McKinley Street. The parade will exit the Metra station on Division Street, proceed west to California, north to Hawley, and west to Mundelein High School. The Miss Mundelein, Junior Miss and Little Miss Mundelein Pageants will be held in the auditorium at Mundelein High School, 1350 W. Hawley Street on Sunday, June 25 at 6:30 p.m. Admission to the pageants is $4 per person, $2 for children under 12. As usual, Mundelein Community Days features popular, high-quality musical acts from around the Chicagoland area covering all musical styles including: Classical Blast (Rock & Pop), Second Hand Soul (Motown, Soul, Rock & Roll), Achilles (Hard Rock), LAVA Rock (Performing the best of LED ZEPPELIN, AEROSMITH, VAN HALEN, AC/DC…. Four Rock Legends, One Rockin’ Band LAVA Rock - Chicago’s Classic Rock Show), Brass from the Past (60’s, 70’s & 80’s Motown, R&B, Funk & Soul), HiFi Superstar (acoustic guitars, keys and vocals, covering decades of great rock and pop music and fun party cover songs from the Beatles to Bon Jovi and Chicago to Keith Urban) Gina Gonzalez & the Wingmen (Lake County’s hottest new band. Playing the best adult alternative rock from the 90’s through today, sprinkled with favorite songs from every generation) and Mason Rivers (Country Rock).
