Numbers of Interest:
Numbers do not tell us everything. Nor are they the final answer. But we can learn from what we see and what we can measure.
Our prayer is that this box will constantly show a growing church.

WELCOME VISITORS!WELCOME VISITORS!
We are thankful you are with us today as we worship our God and Savior. Our prayer is that you will encounter Him today.
A nursery for small children is available in the east hall off the lobby.
What will you experience at Westview?
Praise through song. It is the tradition of our heritage to sing a cappella (without instruments) as we encourage everyone to be involved in uplifting praise.
We value the Bible. You will hear God’s Word read and all sermons will give the utmost respect and priority to Scripture.
We share the Lord’s Supper every week remembering Christ’s sacrifice that provides us forgiveness as we celebrate our salvation through Him.
We do not expect our guests to give financially to our work. We depend on the generous and godly giving of all Westview members to provide the funds needed to implement God’s plans for this church.
We invite you to stay for Bible classes following our worship time. We hope you have been blessed today!
Registration forms for the Northern Colorado Christian Camp are due TODAY.
Below are the details. Forms are on the table in the lobby. We are sending all the
information to Meadowlark tomorrow.

Opportunity to help the Garcias
As you know, Rafael was injured in a car
wreck last month. It will be several weeks
before he is able to return to work. In the
meantime, they are challenged with paying
the bills. If you would like to help them
please give your financial gift to Guy,
Terry, or one of the Elders. Thank you.
Psalm 20:7—Some trust in chari-
ots and some in horses, but we trust in
the name of the Lord our God.
Last week in my Sunday sermon I
gave you an assignment. I’m curious
as to how it has gone. When we con-
sidered Psalm 20 and, in particular,
verse 7 (above), I suggested that you
make this verse a meditative and guid-
ing verse for your week.
Psalm 20 is one of the royal
psalms, a praise and prayer on behalf
of the king. Their king will be protected
by “the saving might of God’s right
hand.” If God saves the king, then he
saves the nation.
The king is the commander-in-
chief. He is the top soldier. There are
many stories in the Old Testament
when the king would lead the army into
battle, riding in his chariot and risking
his own life. If God protected him, then
the entire army was secure.
So why not trust in chariots and
horses? It is the weaponry of a well-
equipped military unit. It seems to me
that the weapons of an army are criti-
cal to its success. In the modern day
army, soldiers train constantly in the
use of the array of weapons at their
disposal. In Ephesians 6, as Paul
described the armor of the “soldier” of
Christ, you can bet any soldier of that
day knew how to best use each piece
of equipment, both as a defensive (the
shield) and offensive weapon (the
sword).
With the rare exception, God
expected the troops of Israel to use the
weaponry they had. There might be
the occasional, extraordinary narrative
that says otherwise—the victory of
Gideon comes to mind. Outnumbered
a gazillion to three hundred, their
attack strategy was built on torches,
pots, and horns. They still had swords,
but they would be unsheathed later in
the attack. The reason their assault
weapons were so radically altered was
so that they would know the victory
was from God. That’s why the force
was cut from 22,000 to 300 in the first
place. Concerning the enemy’s camp,
God told Gideon, “I have given it into
your hand.” (Judges 7:9)
It is not as simple was what
resource, or resources, we have. It is,
“What do we trust?” Are we going to
fall prey to the temptation to depend
on our own strength and power, creat-
ing a delusion of invincibility? Or are
we going to depend on God, the One
that is truly Invincible? In the seven
letters to the churches Jesus dictated
to John in Revelation 2-3, two church-
es in chapter 3 seem to have it all. The
church at Sardis had a “reputation of
being alive.” The church at Laodicea
believed it was “rich and prosperous
and needed nothing.” Yet, Jesus said,
the church in Sardis was actually
“dead,” not alive, and the church at
Laodicea was, in fact, “wretched, pitia-
ble, poor, blind, and naked.”
Do we trust ourselves or in “the
name of the Lord our God?” To trust in
His name is to embrace the power of
the One of the Name. When the Ten
Commandments admonished the peo-
ple to not take the name of the Lord in
vain, there is meaning that included
the idea of , “Do not empty His name.”
Do not render the God of all power as
powerless in your own life.
I think you should go another
week with the assignment. And then
another. And then another.
What are we told to trust? What
should we actually trust?
Love one another,
Jay Wilson was a speaker this weekend at the Family Camp.
He will be teaching a combined adult class today in the
fellowship room. There will be no class in room #14.
The Ladies’ Prayer Group will meet
this Tuesday, the 27th, at 7:00 at the
Lininger’s house. All women are
welcome to come draw closer to
God and each other through prayer.
There is no Ladies’ Bible Study this
summer. We will resume in September.
The Caterpillars to Butterflies group
will not meet in July.
Everyone is invited to a come-and-go reception in honor of Audrey
Rutz’s retirement.

Bob Locke to be considered
as a Shepherd at Westview
Last week the leadership asked you to
pray about and consider Bob Locke to
be added to the leadership of this church
as an Elder. If you have comments,
concerns, or questions, please talk to
Barry or Vern. We are grateful that God
continues to lead us, raising up additional
leaders in our church family. Also pray
for Bob and Susan as we go through
this process.
