CBM PRAYERLINE

GLOBAL On World Refugee Day, June 20, we remember all those who have been displaced in our world. We pray for God’s comfort, care and intervention, especially among those desperate to flee, such as those making the perilous journey by sea. May we see more compassion in receiving countries. Praise God for churches rising to the challenge to welcome and assist refugees to come and live in Canada.

CANADA This past Sunday was a time of celebration at the commissioning service of CBM’s newest field staff appointed to Lebanon - Emad and Almess Botros. The service was held at Stanley Park Baptist Church in Kitchener, Ontario. Continue to pray for adequate funding and for the Botros family as they make final preparations. Remember the Guthries and their move over the summer to the Philippines; as well as former Executive Director Sam Chaise as he discerns next steps in ministry after deciding not to renew his contract. Pray for God’s leading as the CBM Board continues the search and recruitment process.

LEBANON Pray for a time of inspiration and learning at The Middle East Consultation 2015 taking place this week (June 15-19) at the Institute of Middle East Studies, part of the Arab Baptist Theological Seminary in Beirut. Pray for the speakers, organizers and participants coming from around the world, including a CBM team from Canadian Baptist churches. Pray for the overall impact of this event focusing on “Discipleship Today: Identity and Belonging in the Middle East & North Africa”.

NoticeWe are excited that Alex Haner will be one of our summer students this year. Alex is coming from Ontario and is looking for a place to stay over the nine weeks. If you know of anyone that could accommodate him for any of the weeks, please talk to Shawn as soon as possible. Alex starts tomorrow, June 22nd.

Notice

Please feel free to pick up a Sussex & Area Regional Map 2015 which are located at the back of the church. These maps display our Sussex Baptist Church advertisement.

Family Fun Day!

Mark your calendars - Family Fun Day will be held on Saturday, July 25th from 1-5pm.

Camp Tulakadik FundraiserThis year the floor in the Dining Hall has had to be redone. Thus far a breakfast was held to help offset partial cost of having the floor redone. There is still a significant amount to be paid off. We are asking you as members of Sussex Baptist to take on as a project the remainder of the cost of the floor. Whatever we raise as a church family will be matched by an anonymous donor to a maximum of three thousand dollars. In essence we could raise 6,000.00 to pay off the floor! The projected cost of the remainder of the floor payment is approximately 6,000.00. Your donations can be given to Alfie Smith, Ken Reicker or Andrew Hopper. Please make your cheque out to Camp Tulakadik. Please do not write on your cheque that this is for the floor project. If you place cash in your envelope please make sure your name and address is on the outside of the envelope so a receipt can be issued for your donation.  All money collected from the church will go directly toward the cost of the floor. Receipts will be issued by Camp Tulakadik. Please have your donations to us by the end of June.

Crew Leader AnnouncementWe are looking for people to help as crew leaders during the week. If you would like to help please speak to either Pastor Shawn, Helen Hopper or Cathy Morris for details! You will be greatly blessed by investing your time and energy into the children.

Camp TulakadikThere is a lot of excitement here at the camp this week.  In just a four day period we have welcomed close to 500 school kids from the Sussex & Saint John area.  It is so great to hear the laughter and excitement coming from all the kids as they experience camp for a day.  We are just days away from our entire summer staff arriving at the camp for our training week (beginning Sunday evening).  Our first week of camp is shaping up to be a BIG one with close to 70 campers already registered.

I wanted to write you today to ask for a little help.  We are still looking for one staff member; a female Cabin Leader.  This individual should be at least 16 years of age and have a heart for kids/youth and a love for the Lord.  If anyone comes to mind would you please let them know about this exciting opportunity.  This is a paid position with an 8 week duration.  Also, would you please consider sharing this request with your church through Social Media and on Sunday morning?  Thanks in advance for your help with this.

We are also still searching for a camp nurse or EMT for a couple different weeks.  The weeks we are needing to fill are July 5th to 10th and August 9th to 14th.  If you know anyone in your congregations who you think would be interested in this opportunity to serve the Lord at camp please pass this along to them and ask them to contact us (or give us their name and we'll contact them).  Thanks again!

Thank you for your continued support of your camp.  We are looking forward to a fantastic summer of camping ministry.  You are welcome to come visit throughout the summer to check out what's going on at

camp.  We also have lots of opportunities to get involved in various ways.

Blessings on your ministries!

Lord, please bless our fathers, these men who mean so much to us, who are greatly responsible for who we are

and who we are becoming. Bless them for having the courage to do what’s

necessary to keep us out of trouble, for making us do the right thing, for helping us build our character, even when it makes us angry, and bless them for pushing us

to do our best, even when they just want to love us.

Bless our Fathers for being our protectors, for leading us through stormy times to safety, for making us

believe that everything will be all right and for making it so.

Bless our fathers for quietly making a living to provide for those they love most, for giving us food, clothing,

shelter and the other material things that really matter, for unselfishly investing time and money in us that they

could have spent on themselves.

Bless our fathers, Lord, for saving some energy for fun, for leading us on adventures to explore the outer

reaches of ourselves, for making us laugh, for being our playmates and our friends.

Bless them for being our secure foundation, our rock, for holding on tight to us…until it’s time to let us go. Lord, bless these men we look up to, our role models,

our heroes, our fathers.
