Health Products For You (HPFY) is a home-grown company located in Brookfield that earned a spot

on Inc 5000’s list of fastest growing companies last year. HPFY started where all the best companies are founded - in a basement! Naheed and Masarrat Quaisar, with backgrounds in the health industry, marketing and computer science, have quietly worked away building

their business for the last 16 years. Naheed Quaisar, CEO and Co-Founder says, “I migrated to the US in 1998. My husband, Masarrat, was in the healthcare field and I was working in software consulting. Using both our areas of expertise, we decided to start an eCommerce store in the healthcare arena. We bought a few different domain names in 1999. It

was still an idea with a few dollars’ investments till 2002. When my first child was born, I decided to quit my job and give it a shot. We did everything ourselves- no lawyers or accountants. All of our questions were Googled, the answers researched, and then decisions were made.”

HPFY’s mission is to make a healthy lifestyle available and affordable to everyone. Their primary website, Health Products For You, offers products in 50 different product categories. They also have 10 other websites which are boutique sites that cater to niche needs like women's health and wellness, incontinence, ostomy, rehab, mobility, respiratory, wound care and more. As her company grew, Naheed wanted to find a way to give back to the community, so in March of 2017 she started "HPFY's Giving Day Program", partnering with a local Women's shelter in Danbury. Since then the company has supported charities and causes across the United States and globally. On Giving Day, the

second Friday of each month, up to 10% of sales or a flat dollar amount (whichever is greater) is donated to the partner charity. So far, their Giving Day initiative has donated in excess of $50,000. HPFY recently grew out of their small (2,500 square foot) office space in Danbury and moved into a much larger space (nearly 13,000 square feet) in Brookfield. This is a building that they can grow into, and in the meantime their plan is to rent some of their spare office space through LiquidSpace. LiquidSpace offers rentable flexible working space, the airbnb of office spaces. For more information about sharing office

space, visit https://hpfycenter.com/.

What’s on your Bucket List? An Alaskan cruise? African safari? Cross-country rail tour? Romantic trip to Italy? If it

involves travel, Expedia Cruise Ship Centers can help you create your dream vacation. Despite what their name

implies, more than 30% of their business involves handling travel other than cruises. “We are a full-service travel agency”

stated Mary Villamana, co-owner of the franchise.

Surprisingly, even in the age of internet, travel agencies are thriving. With so many moving parts involved, many people

feel that they need the additional support of a travel agency with the planning and booking of their vacations and travel

organizing plans.

“A common misconception that people have is that they are going to pay more when using a travel agency. That’s not

true. You are actually paying the same price as on the internet but with us you are getting additional personalized service

from a live person that can help you before, during and after your travels.” explained Mary.

You can also find additional savings when you purchase one of the promotions offered by the agency several times a

year. Their biggest sale of the year is coming up in June. “On June 4th we are hosting a Cruise Night event where we are

announcing a 3 -day cruise deal featuring perks such as free drinks and gratuities when you book during the sale. This is

one of our most popular events” added Mary.

Mary and her husband Jim, an accountant, bought the franchise located at 67 Federal Rd across from Kohls last year after

finding themselves empty nesters. “We always enjoyed traveling so this was the perfect fit”. Since then, their agency has

grown to include 20 travel consultants and they are always looking for more to join. “You don’t need any previous

experience. We have a training program for new consultants.”

What's New in the Town of Brookfield?

After months of negotiations, Brookfield has been selected as the new world headquarters for Branson Ultrasonics. The Fortune 500 company, a subsidiary of Emerson, makes precision custom welding machines for any number of components, applying a range of techniques from lasers to vibration welding that can precisely join parts through heating and friction. Through the Connecticut Innovations business assistance fund, the state has approved Branson Ultrasonics for $1.4 million in sales tax exemptions for purchases supporting the move to Berkshire Corporate Park. The headquarters will total more than 140,000 square feet of space with plans to employ 220 people

at its new site. It is estimated that the development will eventually generate 1.2 million annually in new taxes. Branson Ultrasonics would join the semiconductor equipment maker Photronics as the largest manufacturing company within the town’s borders.

Home Improvement Interest Free Loans will be available to eligible low- moderate income

homeowners. The town will begin taking applications for its $400,000 Small Cities grant to help with local housing rehabilitation such as health and safety improvements. Applications are on a first come first serve basis up to August 1, 2019. For further information, please contact Lisa Low, (203) 888-5624 or Steve Dunn at (203) 775-7301.

On April there was a Special Town Meeting to consider and vote upon extending the Still River Greenway

Trail. The vote passed unanimously! The more than $207,000 grant from the state’s Community Connectivity Program will allow the town to extend the trail by 2,500 feet, connecting the greenway to an existing 25-car parking lot at the firehouse on Pocono Road. The path will go around the soccer field near Town Hall, past the gazebo, next to the soccer field by the police station and connect to the

greenway. Construction is expected to begin in the fall.
