NOTICE OF CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS
With all construction projects start dates and timelines are contingent on weather conditions prior to and during the construction period. Please check the Village website, Facebook and Twitter feeds for project updates or schedule changes.
50th Street North Turn Around On June 10, 2019 construction is scheduled to begin on 50th Street North adjacent to Heritage Park. This project consists of construction of: asphalt pavement and grading to finish off the north end of 50th Street with a turn around bulb; concrete curb and gutter connecting to existing curb and gutter; sidewalk construction on the east side of 50th Street north of 55th Avenue, connecting the sidewalk to the
pedestrian entrance and walking trail in Heritage Park; installation of a concrete curb ramp at the corner of 50th Street and 55th Avenue, and grading and gravelling of the PUL adjacent to Heritage Park (on the west side of 50th Street) to provide off-street
parking for Heritage Park & walking trail visitors. It is anticipated this construction project will take approximately 2 weeks. During construction activity pedestrian and traffic access will be restricted and the 50th Street entrance to Heritage Park will be closed. For everyone’s safety we ask residents to access Heritage Park from 56th Avenue.
Range Road 32 – From Highway 16 to North Boundary of CN Railway Right-of-Way The Village has been fortunate to collaborate with Alberta Transportation to have a pavement overlay on Range Road 32 (west entrance) from Highway 16 to the north boundary of the CN Railway right-of-way during the Highway 16 construction. While we are anticipating this construction will take place in June at this time we have not been advised as to the specific timeline for the construction or of any traffic impacts.
Canadian National Railway Crossings CN Railways have advised that they will be repairing the railway crossings on Range Road 32, Centre Crossing and Highway 897 in June. Road Closures and detours will be in effect. On THURSDAY, JUNE 6 the Range Road 32 railway crossing will be closed from 7:00am to 5:00pm. Motorists who usually use Range Road 32 are
encouraged to enter into or exit from Kitscoty at Highway 897 during this period; alternately traffic will be routed through the Centre Crossing.
On FRIDAY, JUNE 7 the Centre Crossing will be closed from 8:00am to 5:00pm and only access to the residences on the north side of 48th Avenue will be allowed via the CN Lease Road.
CN has not advised us of the date for the repairs at the Highway 897 crossing.

Outdoor Watering Restrictions In Effect May 1—October 31
Permitted Hours: 6:00am to 9:00am OR 5:00pm to 10:00pm
If you live in a home with an ODD numbered civic address — water on ODD numbered calendar days;
If you live in a home with an EVEN numbered civic address—water on EVEN numbered calendar days.
Why does the Village impose watering restrictions? During the spring and summer months municipal water
is consumed at a much higher rate mainly due to outdoor water use. The Village must maintain adequate
water reserves at all times to meet both municipal and firefighting obligations. Regulating residential water
use on an alternating rotation results in much more manageable water consumption. On occasion excessive
water consumption may lead to the Village imposing a full outdoor watering ban. Bylaw 07-2015, Section
39 permits outdoor watering privileges such as use of garden hose for sprinklers; washing vehicles, building
exteriors, windows or parking pads; filling swimming pools as per the scheduled days and hours posted
above. Contravention of these bylaw regulations may result in a $500 fine.
We greatly appreciate our citizens’ compliance with these regulations
so watering bans will not need to be imposed!
PLEASE BE REMINDED WHEN CONSIDERING OUTSIDE WATERING THAT WATER CONSUMPTION IS NOW
BILLED OUT BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF WATER CONSUMED. WATER BILLS WILL REFLECT THE COST
RELATED TO WATERING LAWNS & GARDENS, AS WELL AS WASHING WINDOWS, VEHICLES, ETC. AT
$3.45 PER M3

GRIEVING - THE WORLD OF DEMENTIA / ALZHEIMER’S
In the world and homes where Dementia/Alzheimer’s has become part of the lives, homes and families, grief also
comes with losses to that person (identity, memory, dreams, recognizing the familiar) causing fear, anger and
depression. Grief also comes to those who are part of that life of a loved one. From the beginning of the journey
with the diagnosis until the physical death, grieving begins. Loved ones experience the grief of loss too; loss of
relationship, remembering past and often the present , the personality changes, saying good-bye often to the person
that was known and loved and meeting a new and changing person.
Loved ones, while grieving, still have supportive caring, patience and unconditional love. It would be so easy to look
back and try to recapture life as it was but now having to learn to embrace memories of the loved person and life as it
was while adapting to the new personality and the changes.
An Alzheimer’s Prayer by author unknown;
Please grant my visitors, tolerance for my confusion, forgiveness for my irrationality and strength to walk with me into
the mist of memory my world has become.
Please help them take my hand and stay awhile even though I seem unaware of their presence. Help them to know
how their strength and loving care will drift softly into days to come just when I need it most. Let them know when I
don’t recognize them, that I will, I will ---. Keep their hearts free of sorrow for me for my sorrow, when it comes, only
lasts a moment – then it is gone.
And finally, Lord, please let them know how very much their visits mean, how even through this relentless mystery, I
can feel their love.
Amen
For those who love and care for that loved one, seek out support for yourself and your loved one. There are support
groups to support you on the journey as a caregiver and family member to learn all you can and to be even a better
support and to meet with other families to share common concerns and emotions of the journey.
