MA MAGI Updates to the Monthly Budget Unit (MBU) Logic Project 11149
This project will make modifications to how CBMS determines the Monthly Budget Unit (MBU) in MAGI households for tax dependents and tax filers
The Change
What the Change Means to You and Who Will Be Affected
● Tax dependents/filers who apply and have someone who is not in their home, who is temporarily out of the home, or who is not a Colorado resident are required to add those individuals to the case
● Tax Information packet ● Tax dependents who pass away remain part of MBU until 1 of next
year 2 exceptions
• Victim of Domestic Violence • Homeless
Tax Dependents • Individuals who are applying for benefits and declare that they are a tax dependent
must now include the tax filer on their case.
• If they indicate on the application that they are a tax dependent, they will have to indicate whether the tax filer is on the application or not - this information will be entered into CBMS on several screens.
• Screens Include: Individual Demographics (important for exceptions), Case Individual, Individual Attributes, Individual Residency, The Individual Tax Information, Income Summary
• When the “yes” tax dependent not on application radio button is selected, the tax information packet will be generated. The tax packet is a change with this build as well and we will review the cover letter and the information packet in a few moments
