A Letter from the Principals
Dear Parents and Guardians,
It is hard to believe that the end of the year has come upon us so quickly! We certainly have so much to celebrate as a school community and we are fortunate to have multiple opportunities in the month of June to do just that! This month we look forward to the following events that will showcase a year’s worth of hard work:
Stapleton’s Got Talent - Talent Show Grade 3 Recorder Concert Kindergarten Show New Kindergarten Orientation Grade 5 Celebration Grade 5 Band Concert Grade 1 Patriotic Songfest
As many of you are aware, Ms. Beck is an integral part of many of these events and we thank her for her hard work and dedication. Her shoes will be hard to fill as she retires at the end of this year but we wish her the very best as she begins a new chapter in her life.
The month of June also provides teachers, support staff and administration the opportunity to reflect and dialogue about the tremendous amount of growth that we have seen in students academically, emotionally and socially. We hope that during parent conferences you were able to enjoy all the accomplishments of your students! We strongly encourage this learning to continue over the

summer with frequent trips to the public library, conversations about books that your students are reading and any opportunities to increase their writing and math skills as well!
As we close out this year and prepare for the next we want to thank you for your continued support. We hope that you will help to recognize the hard work of the faculty and staff as the year closes. Our staff is a passionate group of individuals that work tirelessly each and every day to help all students exceed expectations! We wish you a safe and healthy summer and look forward to seeing everyone back in August. As a reminder, the first day for students in grades 1-5 is August 30, 2017 and the first day for Kindergarten students is August 31, 2017. See you then!

The Stapleton Community
Supports and Honors our Local Veterans!
With the can and bottle drive coordinated by Mr. McElearney in 2016-2017,
Stapleton was able to donate over $325 to a local veterans organization.

Keep your eye out for announcements about summer Stapleton Restaurant
Night dates and locations. Enjoy a bite out and support the school at the
same time. Our Stapleton Restaurant Nights needs a new coordinator for

Coach’s Corner: Literacy
It’s hard to believe another school year has come and gone! To continue learning over the summer, each child entering grades 1-5 will receive a summer learning folder. In this folder are crayons, a journal, a pencil, a bookmark, the summer reading lists, and the “Summer Learning Challenge.” The directions for the learning challenge are below.
Summer Learning Challenge Directions
1. Choose FIVE activities to complete for your incoming grade level. 2. Stamp or “check off” each activity you complete on the grid. 3. Have your parents sign off after you have completed all FIVE activities. 4. Turn in your grid to your homeroom teachers on Friday, September 1st.

Book Picks of the Month for June from Mrs. Biasella, K-5 Literacy Coach
Duck and Hippo in the Rainstorm

Grades K-2
Duck and Hippo may be completely different, but they
are best friends. When playful Duck invites careful
Hippo to go for a walk in the rain, they have trouble
sharing Duck’s umbrella. But Duck and Hippo won’t let
that stop them. Soon they are puddle-jumping and sailing down the river!
Until…WHOOOSH! A terrible wind sends the umbrella flying up, up, up
into the air, with one friend holding on. What will Duck and Hippo do
now? Jonathan London’s charming text and Andrew Joyner’s delightful
art bring to life two lovable friends in this fun new series. (Amazon)
Word of Mouse

Grades 3-5
What makes Isaiah so unique? First, his fur is as blue as
the sky--which until recently was something he'd never
seen, but had read all about. That's right--Isaiah can read,
and write. He can also talk to humans...if any of them are
willing to listen! After a dramatic escape from a mysterious laboratory,
Isaiah is separated from his "mischief" (which is the word for a mouse
family), and has to use his special skills to survive in the dangerous
outdoors, and hopefully find his missing family. But in a world of cruel
cats, hungry owls, and terrified people, it's hard for a young, lone mouse
to make it alone. When he meets an equally unusual and lonely human
girl named Hailey, the two soon learn that true friendship can transcend

Clubs Thank you to the parent and teacher volunteers who gave of their own time so that our children could have fun participating in clubs before and after school.
Kindergarten’s Mrs. Bilodeau offered multiple Arts & Crafts sessions for students in grades K-2. Thank you, Mrs. B!
Thank you to parent volunteer Ruth Anne Shanzer who led this year’s BOKS program, which offers before school fitness fun. Thank you also to volunteers Maryse Rodger,
Rachel Wein, Rick LaMonica, and Brenda Prebble.
Parent volunteer Michelle Rosenberg generously donated her time to get the students excited about all things SCIENCE! Mrs. Rosenberg offered Science Club and a new Origami Club this school year. Thank you!
We are always looking for parents to step up and offer to run a club. Think Legos, crafts, games, languages, music, books, philanthropy, and more! Contact a PTO Board member to volunteer.
Student of the Week Thank you to parent volunteers Ellen Koltenuk and Rachel Richer who organized the Student of the Week program. Every week, they processed nominations from teachers, addressed Principal Party invitations, displayed student photos on the bulletin board, and prepared the Student of the Week certificates.

PTO Events in 2017-2018
The Stapleton PTO has some fun family events on the calendar for the next
school year. These events are planned, organized, and run by volunteer
committees, with the support of the Stapleton PTO Board members and
parent volunteers. It takes a team! Please take a look at the list of planned
events and let us know how you can help. It’s fun, rewarding, and a great
way to meet other Stapleton families. Please join in!

graduates! We are wishing you the very best
as you head to middle school.
Stapleton Family Picnic & Outdoor Movie Night
We were happy to see so many Stapleton families at the recent Stapleton Family Picnic
& Outdoor Movie Night event. What a fun way to celebrate the end of the school year.
We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed some fun in the “backyard” before settling
in to watch SING!
The Lost & Found is FULL!
Please have your child check the Lost & Found for lost items
before the end of school. Unclaimed items will be donated.

Non-Perishable Food & Supplies Collection A Place to Turn is a food pantry in Natick whose mission is to
provide emergency food and clothing to our MetroWest
neighbors. They assist over 225 families each month and
almost 70% of those assisted are Framingham residents.
The Stapleton Community Service program collects one non-
perishable food or supply for A Place to Turn (per their wishes) monthly from
September through June.
THANK YOU ALL for your generosity! The following list shows everything
that Stapleton donated to A Place to Turn food pantry this school year:

If your family could benefit from the assistance of A Place to Turn, there are referral forms in the Stapleton Office that can be filled out and brought to the pantry for immediate assistance. Please don’t hesitate to ask!
