Message from Pastor Adam

Leawood Faith Family,

It is a great joy and privi-lege to join with you in serving Christ and the community around us.

How grateful I am for the leadership of Dr. David Everly these past two years and for the work of the Holy Spirit in preparing all of us for a new season. It is my prayer that we will be empowered by the Spirit to bear much fruit (John 15:8) as we partner together in reaching our neighborhoods, minis-tering to our city, and making disciples of all nations.

"You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven." Matthew 5:14-16 (ESV)

Throughout the gospels, Jesus emphasizes to His followers the importance of sharing the new life we have in Him with those around us. Starting May 31, for the next four Sundays, we will unpack the Great Commission in each of the four gospels and explore the mission of the church together.

I look forward to getting to know each of you in the days ahead!

Pastor Adam

You can reach Pastor Adam at LBC Tuesday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Ext. 13 or [email protected]

Message from Pastor Dave

O nce again, the people of Lea-wood Baptist Church have

demonstrated their love and graciousness toward Becky and me. This past

Sunday (May 24) was very special.

From the songs and liturgical dance to all the cards and the shower of stars.

From the special luncheon with neat decora-tions to the many words of appreciation.

From the party with the Tuesday morning Bible Study group to the other meals and gifts, we are thankful.

We will miss all of you. This is not “good-bye;” it is, “we will see you later.”

With much love and appreciation,

Dave and Becky Everly

Pearls from Peggy

MANY THANKS!!

I am privileged to work with the most dedi‐cated ministry partners ever.  Our choir sing‐ers love the Lord, love the church, love to worship, and love each other, as do our in‐strumentalists.  My goodness, if you sing or play an instrument, you would be so welcome to join us!  Choir has the summer off after June 7 but will be starting again right after La‐bor Day in September.  Please do pray about being a part of the Chancel Choir, the longest running small group in existence at LBC.  We look forward to an enjoyable summer and gathering to sing together again in the fall!  And if you play an instrument, we could use you no matter what the season!  We want YOU!!

UPDATED SOUND SYSTEM

As I’m writing this, we are right in the middle of our new sound system upgrade.  I want to give a huge “thank you” to everyone who con‐tributed so generously to getting this project completed!  Please pray for us as we continue to grow in knowledge of how to utilize this new technology to make the Word of God clearly heard.  I am so grateful to our techni‐cal team – Kurt Uniak, Russ Watson, Randy Cooper, and Brandon Engel—who consis‐tently keep us sending out the truth of the Gospel in music and in preaching.  You’re the TOP!!  Please thank them, along with our sing‐ers and instrumentalists, too!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

This summer, it is my goal to finish organizing the Choir Room and completing the inventory

www.leawoodbaptist.com Phone: 913/649-0100 Fax: 913/649-4872

of choral music we have.  If any adults or teen‐agers would like to volunteer some hours one day a week, I believe it could be done by the end of summer.  Over the past three years, I’ve been gifted so much free music that I haven’t had time to really discover all the music we have.  It’s time to get this done!  If you’d like to help, email me at [email protected], OR call or text my cell phone – 913/568‐6921.  I can accommodate your schedule!

Joy Is the Best Makeup!

“Not forgiving is like drinking rat poison, then waiting for the rat to die!” “Laughter is carbonated Holiness!” “Lighthouses don’t go running all over an island looking for boats to save; they just stand there shining.” “I thought such awful thoughts that I can’t even say them out loud because they would make Jesus want to drink gin straight out of the cat dish.” “You can safely assume you’ve created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do.” These are some of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite authors, Anne Lamott, au-thor of several books on faith and core val-ues. As one review states, “She’s funny and she tells the truth...and those are two things we need more of.”

Anne’s faith is strong. Her life has not been easy, and through the hardest times she dis-covered God through earthly people who shined His love for her. I strongly recommend we make sure we are being people through whom others can easily see God’s Love. I also strongly recommend reading one of Anne’s books, if you haven’t already. She will provide you with healthy, positive thoughts and joy. Happy reading!

A Message from the SNEP Coordinator

After the May 1 SNEP event, I stepped down as SNEP (Special Needs Enrichment Program) Coor-dinator. I have really enjoyed being a part of this special ministry that has impacted many families in such a positive way over the years. I would love to see this valuable program continue, so please prayerfully consider becoming the next SNEP Co-ordinator. I would be happy to help with the tran-sition and even assist, if needed.

If you would like more information, please call 913/220-0294 or e-mail [email protected]. Thank you.
