2nd 7:00 PM in the new Ministry’s building. Those who can still walk, please use the main parking lot and
walk across on the walkway at the outside entrance to the stage.
The Knight and Family of the Year will be announced at the Awards
banquet, Sunday, June 9th. Tickets are s t i l l ava i lable. Contact myse l f [email protected] , 352 243 3292 or

As our Fraternal year comes to a
close, you should be aware that in calendar 2012, the Council devoted nearly 70,000 man hours in charitable endeavors and gave over $11,000 to
charity. Well done Brothers. So far this year we are ahead of
last year in our charitable giving in
great part due to the outstanding work of our Golf Committee as well as the Pasta Dinners, Pig on the Pond, Lotto,
Tootsie Roll drive and the many individual contributions. With humility, I am proud of my association with all of you.
Coats for Kids and Thanksgiving feeding, added last year, were a huge success. Fall Festival, answering the last
minute calls for help to our Council,
Parish, individuals in need, all gave rise to my (and I hope your) elation in being part of this Fraternity. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
This year we look forward to entering with the Parish, feeding the children through the “Back Pack”
p ro g r a m a n d c o n t i n u i n g o u r relationships with the community charities Back to School is Cool and
Building Blocks Ministries. Here is the opportunity for those brothers who have been unable to participate to assist where they can. Invite a friend to
join us to share what we have.Blessed by our God, this Council
has had a positive impact on our
fami l i e s , our Par i sh , and our Community. Let us continue to pray for His guidance and presence in our
lives as we continue to work toward the building of His Kingdom.

Fellow Brothers,
Please “DGVO”
Early in my career, I worked as an engineer
developing and testing dangerous equipment – jet
engines. In that environment, or any time you
want to make sure things happen on time, the best
thing to do is to write it down and hand it to the
responsible person. So the company required us
to use “DGVO” or “Don’t Give Verbal Orders”
forms. The system worked very well.
While we don’t have or use DGVO forms, we
can and should use memos and e-mail’s to ask for
things to be done.
So if you have a change of address, a new
phone number, or a new e-mail address, please
send an e-mail to me; [email protected] or
write a note and hand it to me at any Council
meeting or event. Please print clearly. Thank you!
Blessings and best regards,

Dear Brother Knights
Last month I reported that the Florida
Legislature was addressing two bills that dealt
with abortion. Well I am pleased to say that both
passed. According to the May 24, 2013 Florida
Catholic, we now have two bills on the way to our
Governor that provide that an infant born alive
during an abortion is required to be transported
to the nearest medical facility for immediate
treatment and that also requires abortion
providers to report infants born alive to state
officials. Now we wait for the Governor to sign
them.
Think of these laws and the recent case of the
doctor that was tried and convicted for killing
babies born in his abortion clinic. We are still
making progress on this important issue. Keep
praying and making our Catholic views known to
o u r s t a t e a n d f e d e r a l c o n g r e s s i o n a l
representatives. Maybe there will be a day when
the Supreme Court sees the light and reverses Roe
vs. Wade.
I know this is going to the other end of the
spectrum but how many of us are aware of the
church’s position on the death penalty? As I said
in the beginning Pro-Life has to cover more than
just the issues surrounding birth.
On May 22, 2013 our Florida Catholic Bishops
recently sent an open letter to Gov. Rick Scott
entitled- Does Society Really Make a Coherent
Statement Against Killing by Killing? The Bishops
“affirm the proper role of the state to assure that
society is protected, but sense that there is
growing opposition to the death penalty in our
country”. The Bishops urge the Governor to see
that the death penalty does not make sense-
“killing people to show that killing is wrong is a
piercing contradiction- diminishes us all and
contributes to a growing disrespect for the
sacredness of human life”. The Bishops support
the Florida alternative of life imprisonment
without possibility of parole as a better solution.
In closing I continue to encourage you to read
the Florida Catholic and please consider this web
site- [email protected] as a source of
good info on Florida.
As ever-Vivat Jesus. Pete
“killing people to show that
killing is wrong is a piercing
contradiction-...”

One of our founding goals: to
protect widowsAs a member of this council, you know how
important spouses can be to the charitable works
of the Order. If you’re married, your wife is
probably involved in a few of the many events that
happen each fraternal year. This support adds
great value and impact to what a council can
achieve.
When the Order was founded in 1882, Father
Michael J. McGivney and the other brave men
were setting out to protect Catholic families, but
especially wives and children. We know today this
is done through our insurance products which are
designed with that goal in mind. One specific
policy rider that you may not know about is called
Spousal Waiver of Premium. This rider is unique
to the Knights of Columbus philosophy of helping
our widows.
This rider is available on most permanent and
Discoverer plans purchased at standard rates by a
member and his wife on the same day. When both
spouses apply, the rider provides for waiver of
premiums on the spouse’s contract in the event of
the insured’s death. Best of all, for members and
spouses ages 18 to 60, this waiver can be added for
no charge. The rider stays in effect until the
spouse attains age 65 or certain other
triggering events occur.
Our products are designed with your needs
and budget in mind. With a solid portfolio of life
insurance, long-term care, disability income and
retirement products, the Knights of Columbus can
help you meet all of your financial goals. To learn
more about these solutions, contact me today.

My Worthy Brothers,
Sir Knights, Its hard to
believe that a year has gone by
already but it has. I would like
to thank all of you for letting
me serve as your navigator for
this past year.
When I took over, my main
goal was to increase our
number of Sir Knights. That
we did, we took in 9 new
brothers to our assembly.
I also wanted to make us
more self sufficient money
wise. We also did that with a
very profitable raffle.
A very heartfelt thank you
to the Color Corps and Color
Guard, you guys make us very
proud every time we go out.
Thank you to Brother Don
Gelinas for being the best Color

Thanks Don.
A special thank you to my
wife and all the other wives for
being there for us as we go out
to do the things we do. They
spend a lot of time alone as we
travel from event to event.
Last but certainly not least,
thank you to our Lord our God
for allowing me to have been
the leader of this great group.
May the good Lord watch over
us and bless us.
To All
