  • Hello once again, my fellow readers. I hope this finds you

doing well and enjoying the days, its been picture perfect. I know Ive had a few interesting conversations with folks

around town recently. Trust me if those Trees had ears and could talk. Oh

my. People know so much but tell so little to correct these wrongs.

Isnt this the south, where they still feel guilty over slavery? So, everyone I have met seems to see it, accept it. It is what it is. The Confederate Flag still flies high in front of

the DeFuniak Springs courthouse everyday. Im sure its just a matter of time before someone sues them for offending their beliefs, rights or freedoms of. Isnt that what we all see taking place all around our country? I mean as long as your open minded to the reality that most of the Media is biased. Wanting not offend someone or an organization that

they sometimes do NOT even speak. Everyone being too branded for being a certain way. Our beliefs matter.

We have our beliefs in what founded our country. Many of us wish it never changed

from the old days. People knew their place in society and many was thankful just to have a

place they can call HOME. So, why is it that we are treated so differently now, by the

Law? by those sworn to uphold the Law? yet do nothing to better the county we live in.

Hell, just a few more jails and we all will have free-room and board available, cause

trust me, if they want you, they will get you in the system. $$. I believe this county feels

safer knowing that each person has an arrest record so they know who you are and when you may act up, they can and will, just snatch you up and take you away.

Even if the charge is a misdemeanor, they can still get you in jail for process. From then

on your life is scarred for when employer or even the cops look you up. They assume to

have been arrested youve done wrong. But 43% of cases, dropped, dismissed? Why is it the deeper I dig into, the wheels of Justice in this county, the more unan-swered questions I find? This last year has been one I wont soon forget. I have dealings over a so-called neighbor for over 11 years that I have done exactly what the Sher-iff himself told me to do when trouble arises, call them. They show up after they can catch him in the act of stalking us, harassing us, making false allegations in hopes to have myself or my family to be arrested? All this because he knows, Ive complained many years of all the traffic, selling whatever, and strangers he brings down our road around our properties. (The Yard Sale guy). This

has been zoned residential and I cant get 1 person in this county to have this commercial looking junkyard, blatantly in violation of our civil rights. To live as residents in a neighborhood? Drive by

here along Hwy. 331 like you do and tell Code if that Looks like residential activity or commercial.

Complete with signage and con-ex boxes, dozers, tractors, backhoes and so many trailers for heavy

equipment, we lost count. Well, Mr. Larry Jones. I spoke with you a week ago. Im watching.

So, please I invite you all to read my past 5-6 editions online. Youll see why I now am getting feedback. I am curious how far this county will go to try and keep me down? This

newspaper has seen better days and plan on seeing them again by next year.

I want to share some facts to think about, from across the WORLD.JAPAN. * Japan prevents the use of mobile phones in trains, restaurants and indoors. * For first to sixth primary year

Japanese students must learn ethics in dealing with people. * Even though one of the richest people

in the world, the Japanese do not have servants. The parents are responsible for the house and chil-

dren. * There is no examination from the first to the third primary level because the goal of educa-

tion is to instill concepts and character building. * If you go to a buffet restaurant in Japan you will

notice people only eat as much as they need without any waste because food must not be wasted. *

The rate of delayed trains in Japan is about 7 seconds per year! The Japanese appreciate the value of

time and are very punctual to minutes and seconds. * Children in schools brush their teeth (sterile)

and clean their teeth after a meal at school, teaching them to maintain their health from an early age.

    * Japanese students take half an hour to finish their meals to ensure proper digestion because these

students are the future of Japan.

The Japanese focus on maintaining their culture. Therefore - Why cant the U.S.A.? * No political leader or a prime minister from an Islamic nation has visited Japan not the Ayatollah

of Iran, the King of Saudi Arabia or even a Saudi Prince! * Japan is a country keeping Islam at bay

by putting strict restrictions on Islam and ALL Muslims. 1) Japan is the only nation that does not give citizenship to Muslims. 2) In Japan permanent residency is not given to Muslims.

    3) There is a strong ban on the propagation of Islam in Japan

    4) In the University of Japan, Arabic or any Islamic language is not taught.

    5) One cannot import a 'Koran' published in the Arabic language.

    6) According to data published by the Japanese government, it has given temporary residency to

only 2 lakhs, Muslims, who must follow the Japanese Law of the Land. These Muslims should

speak Japanese and carry their religious rituals in their homes. 7) Japan is the only country in the

world that has a negligible number of embassies in Islamic countries. 8) Muslims residing in Japan

are the employees of foreign companies. 9) Even today, visas are not granted to Muslim doctors,

engineers or managers sent by foreign companies. 10) In the majority of companies it is stated in

their regulations that no Muslims should apply for a job. 11) The Japanese government is of the

opinion that Muslims are fundamentalist, and even in the era of globalization they are not willing to

change their Muslim laws. 12) Muslims cannot even rent a house in Japan. 13) If anyone comes to

know that his neighbor is a Muslim then the whole neighborhood stays alert. 14) No one can start an

Islamic cell or Arabic 'Madrasa' in Japan. 15) There is no Sharia law in Japan. 16) If a Japanese

woman marries a Muslim, she is considered an outcast forever.

Strange, Im looked at as a racist for feeling strongly about my White Ethics and teaching my chil-dren what I believe in too? God, honesty, loyalty to family and I provide security for PEACE.

  • Obituary for Dr. Wendell King Loomis

Dr. Wendell King Loomis died peacefully at home on June 9, 2015 surrounded by his family. Dr. Loomis

was born in Mexico, New York on September 28, 1923 to Cameron Loomis and Clara Hills Loomis. He

graduated from Mexico, New York High School and then entered the Air Force where he trained as a pilot.

He attended college at Cornell University followed by entrance to the Cornell University College of Veteri-

nary Medicine. Dr. Loomis practiced veterinary medicine in upstate New York and Maryland, where he

specialized as a large animal practitioner. He was a

pioneer in his field in the treatment of colic, orthopedic surgery and in

performing emergency surgery in the field when needed. He taught vet-

erinary medicine at Cornell University for several years. He was well

published and loved by his students. After his retirement, Dr. Loomis

and his wife Gwendolyn moved to Santa Rosa Beach, Florida where

they have enjoyed a full and wonderful 25 years. During this time they

have enjoyed being friends and members of Christ the King Episcopal

Church. Marylands historic Sagamore Farms, a thoroughbred horse breeding facility that produced Native Dancer, held a special place in Dr. Loomis heart, as he considered the staff there to be his extended family. It gave him much happiness

when he learned that Sagamore Farms had been revitalized and brought back to

    its previous glory.

Dr. Loomis loved to rebuild old cars and to make broken things whole again. He

often re-caned beautiful chairs and made old umbrellas usable again. He loved

to work on wood projects and his home and his local childrens homes have many fine examples. He will be remembered for his wonderful stories, of which

he had a never-ending supply. The beautiful farmlands of central New York

State instilled in him a respect for the land and the creatures that grazed upon it.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Gwendolyn Gainer Loomis; his children

Sharon Loomis of Seattle, Washington, Craig Loomis of El Segundo, California,

Douglas Loomis of Conroe, Texas and Linda Shovea, Sandra Johnson and Deb-

bie Earles of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. He and Gwen are survived by 17

grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his son

Mark Loomis, also of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

The memorial service will be held at Christ the

King Episcopal Church on Monday June 22,

2015, at 2:00pm. The address of the church is

480 N. County Hwy 393, Santa Rosa Beach, FL

32459. The service will be officiated by Father

Richard Proctor. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Hannahs Helpers to honor his grand-daughter, Hannah Shovea. The information for Han-

    HEALTH ADVISORY

    High Bacteria Count at

Morrison Springs Walton County The Health Advisory is issued June 16, 2015, for Morrison

Springs. The Advisory is issued based

on the criteria for fecal indicator

    bacteria.

This should be considered a potential

health risk to the bathing public and

    swimming is not recommended.

Samples taken are above the public

health threshold for fecal indicator bacte-

ria. Water quality exceedances are based

    upon the US Environmental Protection

Agencys (EPA) recommended standard of no more than 61 Enterococci

    CFU/100mL, or 235 E. coli CFU/100mL

in any single sample. Sample results for

    June 15, 2015, indicate 136 Enterococci

    CFU/100ml and 108 Enterococci

    CFU/100ml.

The water will be re-sampled June 22,

    2015. When re-sampling indicates that

the water is within the satisfactory range,

    the advisory will be lifted.

The Florida Department of Health in

    Walton County monitors monthly water

    samples submitted by public bathing

places during their operation season. The

water samples are being analyzed for

    enteric bacteria (fecal coliform entero-

cocci or E. coli) that normally inhabit the

intestinal tract of humans and warm-

blooded animals, and indicate the pres-

ence of pathogens which may cause

    swimming related diseases including

gastrointestinal disease, ear and eye ail-

ments, and skin rashes and infections.

The presence of fecal indicator bacteria

is an indication of fecal pollution, which

may come from storm water runoff, do-

mestic pets, wildlife, and human waste

    (sewage).

Sampling is also conducted by other

    county health departments at marine

beaches and results can be found at De-

partment of Health's Beach Water Qual-

    ity website at www.floridahealth.gov/

FDA: Farewell to Trans Fats A number of popular foods are about to lighten up. The FDA is all but

banning the use of partially hydrogenated oils, the main source of artery

-clogging artificial trans fats, in processed food.

Food makers will have 3 years to remove partially hydrogenated oils

from products, the agency says in a statement.

Experts cant say theres any safe level of trans fats to eat, "because we don't have the evidence," says Walter Willett, MD, DrPH, MPH, profes-

sor of epidemiology and nutrition at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of

    Public Health.

Food makers have found substitutes for these controversial fats, he says,

which proves "there's absolutely no need for trans fats in the food sup-

    ply."

Today's final decision follows the agency's initial judgment in 2013 that

the status of these fats should be changed. Those actions follow decades

of research showing they boost the risk of heart disease.

"We generally support the goal of reduced trans fat,'' says Robert Col-

lette, president of the Institute of Shortening and Edible Oils, whose

members make the products. "We will continue to do what we have

done for the past 10 years -- work with the food industry in formulating

    other alternatives."

Tuesday's FDA decision removes trans fats from a category known as

''generally recognized as safe" (GRAS). Ingredients in the GRAS cate-

gory can be added to food without the agency's approval.

The move now means makers must get the agencys OK to use trans fats in food.

The fats are used to help give foods stability, extend shelf life, and

sometimes improve ''mouth feel,'' the response to a food's texture and

    flavor.

Public health experts praised the decision. Food makers pointed out that

theyve been gradually phasing out trans fats for years, but warn that some foods won't taste the same without them. What Are Trans Fats?

Theyre found in some processed foods, including desserts, microwave popcorn, frozen pizzas, coffee creamer, and margarines. The fats can

raise your LDL ''bad'' cholesterol and lower your HDL ''good" choles-

    terol.

"Studies show that diet and nutrition play a key role in preventing

chronic health problems, such as cardiovascular disease, and today's

action goes hand in hand with other FDA initiatives to improve the

health of Americans, including updating the nutrition facts label.

The City of Freeport recently held ribbon cuttings for two new businesses that have opened in the city. On June 1, a large crowd gathered on a rainy afternoon to welcome owners Jamey & Allysa Goddin and their new business Bend The Bar Fitness Center, located in the Freeport Industrial Park. Then again on Wednesday June 11, a ribbon cutting was held at Coastal Optical Outlet, located on Highway 331 South-directly across from Copeland's. Mayor Russ Barley spoke at both events, welcoming these new businesses to the City of Freeport family.

  • Healthmark Health Matters Gastritis what is in a name? Gastritis describes a group of conditions with one thing in common: inflammation of the lining of the

stomach. Despite its name, gastritis does not have

anything to do with gas. The inflammation of gastritis

is most often the result of infection with the same bac-

terium that causes most stomach ulcers. Injury, regular

use of certain pain relievers and drinking too much

alcohol can also contribute to gastritis.

Gastritis may occur suddenly (acute gastritis), or it

can occur slowly over time (chronic gastritis). In some

cases, gastritis can lead to ulcers and an increased risk

of stomach cancer. However, according to researchers

at Mayo Clinic, for most people, gastritis isn't serious

    and improves quickly with treatment.

The signs and symptoms of gastritis include gnaw-

ing or burning ache or pain in the upper abdomen that

may become either worse or better with eating. Nau-

sea, vomiting and a feeling of fullness in the upper

abdomen after eating are also symptoms.

Factors that increase the risk of gastritis include

bacterial infection. Physicians believe vulnerability to

the bacterium may be inherited, but could be caused

by lifestyle choices, such as smoking and high stress

    levels.

Heavy use of common pain relievers, such as aspi-

rin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin IB) and naproxen

(Aleve, Anaprox), can cause both acute and chronic

gastritis. Using these pain relievers too often or taking

too much of these drugs may reduce a key substance

that helps preserve the protective lining of the stom-

ach. Stomach problems are less likely to develop if

pain relievers are taken only occasionally. Acetamino-

phen (Tylenol) does not lead to gastritis.

Older adults have an increased risk of gastritis be-

cause the stomach lining tends to thin with age and

because older adults are more likely to have H. pylori

infection or autoimmune disorders than younger peo-

    ple are.

Excessive alcohol use is unhealthy for a variety of

reasons, including the fact that alcohol can irritate the

stomach lining, which makes the stomach more likely to be harmed by digestive juices. Excessive

alcohol use is more likely to cause acute gastritis.

Severe stress due to major surgery, injury, burns or severe infections can cause acute gastritis.

Autoimmune gastritis occurs when the body attacks the cells that make up the stomach lining. This

produces a reaction by the immune system that can wear away at the stomach's protective barrier.

Autoimmune gastritis is more common in people with other autoimmune disorders, including

Hashimoto's disease, type 1 diabetes and vitamin B-12 deficiency.

Treatment of gastritis depends on the specific cause. Acute gastritis caused by nonsteroidal anti-

inflammatory drugs or alcohol may be relieved by stopping use of those substances. Chronic gastri-

tis caused by H. pylori infection is treated with antibiotics. In most cases, a physician may pre-

scribe medications that treat stomach acid to reduce signs and symptoms and promote healing in

    the stomach.

In general, anyone can reduce the risk of gastritis by eating smaller, more-frequent meals. Any-

one that experiences frequent indigestion should try eating several small meals instead of three

large ones whenever possible. Avoid foods that irritate the stomach, especially those that are spicy,

acidic, fried or fatty. Avoid alcohol. Ask a physician whether acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be a

better option for pain relief. Stress can make gastritis symptoms worse, but may be hard to avoid,

so consider calming activities such as meditation, yoga or tai chi.

See a physician if signs and symptoms of gastritis last for a week or longer. Tell the physician if

stomach discomfort occurs after taking prescription or over-the-counter drugs, especially aspirin or

other pain relievers. If symptoms include vomiting blood, blood in stools or stools that appear

black, see a physician right away to determine the cause.

Did You KNOW? Some time ago, I was cooking some corn

and stuck my fork in the boiling water to

see if the corn was ready. I missed and my

hand went into the boiling water....!!

A friend of mine, who was a Vietnam vet,

came into the house as I was screaming &

asked me if I had some plain old flour...

I pulled out a bag and he stuck my hand in

it. He told me to keep my hand in the flour

    for 10 minutes.

He said that in Vietnam, there was a guy

on fire and in their panic, they threw a bag

of flour all over him to put the fire

out...Well, it not only put the fire out, but

he never even had a blister!!!!

Long story short, I put my hand in the bag

of flour for 10 min., pulled it out and did

not even have a red mark or a blister &

    absolutely NO PAIN.

Now, I keep a bag of flour in the fridge and

every time I burn myself. *Cold flour feels

even better than room temperature flour.

I use the flour and have never ever had

even a red spot/burn mark, or a blister!

I even burnt my tongue once, put the flour

on it for about 10 minutes .... the pain was

    gone and no burn.

    Try it . . . Experience a miracle!

Keep a bag of flour in your fridge and you

    will be happy you did!

Flour has heat absorbent property and also

has a strong antioxidant property, thus it

helps in burn patients if applied within 15

    minutes.

While the sale of the citys property on which city hall is located did not materialize, city

business is on continuing through the various

services offered to our citizens. Various beautifi-

cation and repair projects have recently been completed by our pub-

lic works department. These projects include the replacement of the

two porches located on the lake side of the Chautauqua Hall of

Brotherhood, removing dead and diseased trees from the lakeyard

and the installation of new doors on the library.

Citizens will also find some efficiency upgrades to the com-

munity center. These upgrades include new LED energy efficient

lighting, insulation and ceiling tiles. New doors and windows for the

community center have been ordered and will be installed once they

are received. These upgrades were made possible through a $72,100

grant from the Office of Energy which is under the Florida Depart-

ment of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

The citys planning department has also been busy review-ing and approving several projects. This includes an addition to the

countys administration building located at 72 N. 6th Street, the in-stallation of a soil remediation unit and fence enclosure for a gas

station at 40 Coy Burgess Road and a revision to the T-Mobile site at

820-A State Road 83 N. The citys new code enforcement officer, Dutsy Beck, has also been busy talking to individuals and sending

out letters in reference to code violation. The city encourages any-

one that sees a violation within the city to please report it to Dusty

and he can be reached at 892-8571.

The DeFuniak Springs Economic Development Committee

(EDC) has applied for two grants administered by the Department of

Economic Opportunity. The first grant is a Competitive Florida Part-

nership Grant that would assist the city in designing a strategic plan

for economic and community development. The second grant is a

Community Planning Technical Assistance grant. For this grant the

EDC established four projects to seek assistance in supporting eco-

nomic and community development. These projects listed in order

of importance are (1) branding and marketing the city, (2) a plan for

physical improvements, (3) community asset mapping and (4) eco-

nomic development workshops for the community and the commit-

    tee.

Why is a whistle-blower considered a Bad person for turning in what they know is wrong or unjust? Didnt stay quite, lose the Job? It is those brave citizens who didnt care how much the job paid, it was not worth the risk of future lives in our unclean water and Air. Does

ObamaCare: Not the Courts Job to

Change How Law is Written The time is near: later this month the Supreme

Court will issue its ruling on King v. Burwell.

The case centers around the question of what the

phrase established by the state means, and how

    it affects eligibility for subsidies.

Plaintiffs contend that the words take their literal

meaning, only exchanges set up by the state are

eligible for subsidies. The governments position is that the words do not really mean what they

say, and that the federal government is also in-

cluded as a state for subsidy purposes.

The unique thing about this case is that the plain-

tiffs are not the ones attacking ObamaCare and

trying to change it, its defenders are. The plain-

tiffs argue that the law should be applied as writ-

ten, while ObamaCares defenders hope the Court will change the law to make it conform

with how they want the law to work, instead of

    how it was written.

The staff that wrote ObamaCare have said that

they never intended to limit subsidies to ex-

changes set up by the states. The only problem,

this is exactly what they wrote! If the intention

was for subsidies to flow from federal exchanges

as well, it is up to Congress to change the law,

    not the Court.

Article III of the Constitution grants the judiciary

branch the power to decide individual cases and

controversies. Article III does not grant the Court

the authority to change written law to have it

conform with what the authors supposedly

wanted it to say. No different from TV Media

A love affair lifts you off your feet on Monday and transplants you to the moon. It's been a long time

since you've been to the moon, and the change of scenery is more than welcome. too -- spent building and

then tromping through sandcastles of moon dust -- your responsibilities take priority. Try to get exercise

while getting things done (if you have to run an errand, walk instead of drive).

It's understandable if you're feeling overwhelmed at the outset of the week. If you don't feel like doing

much, don't do much. Put on some music and busy yourself with tasks around the house. Doing dishes

can be therapeutic. Vacuuming can be fun. Your fun comes in the form of something a lot more exciting

than dishes and vacuuming -- put simply, love is in the air -- you will most likely feel like flying solo.

You come to a clearing at the beginning of the week, and you can see for miles. With heightened clarity

about where you're going comes heightened articulateness: The right words roll off your tongue without

much effort. No time for hesitating. If you pursue your goals with energy, you'll be able to bring your

wildest dreams to fruition. Eventually. This is still the early stage of a long ride.

You are human, so you can't do everything or be all things to all people. But what might be difficult for

you may well be a snap for one of your friends. Or maybe they know someone who knows someone. Let

the natural talents of the people around you guide your next move. A dinner party could double as a strat-

egy meeting. Have it at your house, which has good energy these days.

Your way of relating to people you've just met is flirtatious, and you're meeting a lot of people these days,

therefore the distinction between friends and love interests is a bit blurry. Nevertheless, Return you to

purely practical, non-social matters. As you enter the social realm again, and sometime this weekend real-

ize that you're the life of the party, even though, somewhere in the back of your mind, you're thinking.

The best solution might be the one that seems the most far-fetched. You have a knack for innovation these

days. Trust your instincts, even if your ideas raise eyebrows. Raise the roof! Be weird! Some explosive

days -- the energy in the air is visible -- they present plenty of opportunities, social and professional.

Your friends are a good influence on you. They act as a springboard for your ideas, and they have some

solid ideas of their own. Plus, they don't mind when you launch into one of your crazy lectures about frogs

or baking or the nature of love. You're unique, that's for sure. Find you grounded, modest and deeply con-

tent. And then, the icing on the cake: Friday. A day of achievement. Your pinnacle.

Try to develop deep connections. The week has the potential to be either great or a drag, and what happens

early on will determine how things pan out. Relationships are important, as are details. You are a brilliant

communicator when you put your mind to it. So, put your mind to it! You get your energy from other

people -- so surround yourself with people who give off good vibes!

You're not in the mood for anything superficial. What you need is an intellectual conversation. Find some-

one you like talking to -- someone smarter than you -- and let yourselves go. You're more interested in

getting things done than in dwelling on emotions, but that's not to say you should ignore the peripheral

beauty that surrounds you -- it can be inspiring. You long to be around creative people

A detail that seems minor could snowball into something huge. It could mean the difference between suc-

cess and failure. If someone else's money is involved in this venture, take particular care. Managing your

own losses is far easier than being responsible for someone else's. Then again, you're likely going to get

whatever it is you want. Relinquish control of dinner plans and you'll be pleasantly surprised by what ends

    up on your plate.

You have worked hard enough lately. Put the engine in neutral and let yourself coast at the beginning of

the week. Ambition is healthy but it's also exhausting, and there are a lot of people who'd love a slice of

your attention. You feel an almost spiritual connection to your friends. Your energies are slightly

mismatched, but the contrasts (plus intense mutual love) yield fascinating philosophical interactions.

Putting your feelings in writing is a great way to discover what your feelings are. You think with words

these days, and the more articulate you are, the better. Plus, being clear is an effective antidote to the

flightiness that seems to surround you, at least until the middle of the week. Someone is being downright

clingy: Focusing on them might exhaust you, but it will solve their anxiety. Not an easy day -- things may

appear as they are not, which isn't helpful -- and this weekend your friends are more demanding than ever.

    They love you, that's all.

From The EDITOR, I want each of you readers to think about the next couple years

around FREEPORT in particular. The way the businesses gather

along Hwy. 331. The zoning areas for Residential along Hwy. 331

have not changed nor do they intend to. Who enforces codes?

What do you want to brag about Freeport for? The trails, the waterways? Or the dumping ground and bad water / ground around?

    After reading the past

6-7 editions of this fine little

newspaper, I wanted to share my

opinion with you people=who dont seem to act fast enough, when your position of your

job requires immediate attention. It needs a quick response so violators dont continue just building what they want while infringing on

(every persons code of set-backs for permanent

    structures) anywhere in this county.

Let me say this. Im 72 years old and I took it upon myself to see if what this man has been so

upset about, see it for myself and my wife for we

grew up there( and offer my services to him).

After physical evidence, photos and video I

saw disputing codes rendering of a legal non-conformity-this is a definite disregard for the

Law. That building erected now is not within the

setbacks we all must adhere to. Just from them

stating that sentence alone, it would NOT stand

    up in court.

I invite anyone to see what this is about just

drive up Waterside Ln. and how little of a road it

is at its entrance. (Stakes were pulled by individ-ual). Notice how it is designed as Sweetwater Ln.

is. Im stating this on my own record of what type of injustice he has been writing about.

Again, to prove that that this Man is honest and

telling it like it is, this should without a doubt

had a hefty County fine along with this decision.

And from what I witness today with dozers, trac-

tors and Land Clearing Signs? The zoning of this

area along Hwy. 331 is designated to be non-

commercial entities. That is also on record. I own

land prior to this place. Why is it taking so long

    to cease this?

On Sweetwater Ln. the residents did Not want

to see a storage yard fenced in at the entrance of

our residentially zoned homes. I know that for I

know the Man Code told him the stuff needs to be removed. Improper zoning. NOW, other side of the same Bayou? and you allow the eye-sore

for the other community on Waterside to suffer

due to one mans attack on pushing the limit with the county, activity seen there all hours day/

    night.

Why can his Home look like it does yet, my

fenced in lot couldnt store boats?, he said to me. I have seen numerous surveys and as I men-tioned before I grew up here. Went to Choctaw

High back in the 60s. As one reader to another, I say you can believe that what is printed, is written as fact. He even offers a

response if your offended. Tell me one other newspa-

per that will let you speak your voice on such a plat-

form? Nowhere. This is your chance to set the record

    straight with the county.

Call the Co. Administrator, he is responsible for over-

sight of all govt. run organizations. The State Rep.

oversees this county just as any other county. Make

your calls people, just you dont live next to it. Some-one does. A U.S. Veteran, an Editor/ Publisher of a

  • Being a Father without the DNA By Rian Lyday

It is not flesh and blood but the heart which makes us fathers and sons.

    -Johann Friedrich Von Schiller

With Fathers Day coming up, I thought I

would dedicate this column to the won-

derful men in my life who are fathers,

whether by DNA or not. You know my

niece, Mackenna, is going through a trying time in her

life because of her brain cancer. I am in Ohio for the sum-

mer to help my family deal with this difficult time. My

brother, who is not Mackennas dad based on their DNA

make-up, is certainly more of a father than many men

I have seen. His whole heart is wrapped around my sweet

niece and his wife. The way they have pulled together as

a team and work towards Mackennas health is such a

compliment to what a man my brother is. I watch him as

a father and my heart burst with pride. Chad Coolidge, I

love you more than new shoes and all the pretzels in Ger-

many. My own father also needs recognition in this col-

umn. My Dad is the captain of my ocean and the con-

stant comedian in my life. He and I share so many quali-

ties and while it took us a long time to get to this place in

our relationship, I wouldnt change one thing about it.

Watching him care for my niece, who again does not

share his blood, as a grandfather, makes me proud to

share his name. Captain Coolidge, I love you from the

depths of the ocean to the shores of Lake Erie. Finally, I

would like to recognize my amazing husband. Kobe and I

have been blessed to call this man the head of our family

for the past four years. From the first time he met Kobe,

he talked to him with respect and an adoration that only

a father and son can share.

While Keiths DNA does not course through Kobes

veins, he is in all sense of the word, his Dad. He works

every day to raise our child to be a strong man with good

morals and values. He works to provide for our little fam-

ily and provide us with all the best things in the world.

Being in Ohio for the summer, I do not get to see his face

and walk him to his truck every morning but I do get to

appreciate what a fantastic man I have married. Kobe and

I are able to have this second chance at life with such a

wonderful man. I know I tell you every day but Keith

Lyday, I love you more than shopping at American Eagle,

scuba diving, pedicures, and Ugg boots.

Thank you to all the Fathers out there whether by blood

or simply the heart...we appreciate and love you all very

    much! hAppy fAthers dAy!
