CMAMF Notes• The “Be Instrumental” CMA band instrument drive continues throughout June, with donations being accepted at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. • International awards handed out by the CMA during Music Fest include: Country Broadcaster for 2008 to Joe Fish and Pio McCann; and, 2008 Wesley Rose Media Award to Roger Ryan. • The 26th Annual YWCA auction with Martina McBride raised $72,195 for the organization with items from Dolly Parton, Chris Young, Jason Michael Carroll and more. • The inaugural Guitars Of The Stars Benefit Auction raised $40,000 for the Opry Trust Fund at the Ryman Auditorium Friday (6/12). • The Friends Of Darryl Worley Fan Club presented the Darryl Worley Foundation a check for $11,700 at the artist’s fan club party Thursday (6/11). • Jimmy Wayne explains the reason he didn’t perform at LP Field Thursday (6/11) after the weather delay was because he had to catch an early morning flight to Boston to open for Brad Paisley.

My Tunes: Music ThaT shaped My Life WCTK/Providence MD/middayer Jessica Tyler discusses her most important songs, artists or concerts: 1. Juice Newton, Juice: The first album I ever bought, and I loved everything on it: “Angel Of The Morning,” “Queen Of Hearts.” Just a great album. 2. Bryan Adams, Cuts Like A Knife: The beginning of my love for all musicians with that raspy voice. I am embarrassed to admit that I had his posters all over my bedroom

walls much to the dismay of my parents, who didn’t want thumbtacks in the wallpaper! 3. Garth Brooks, Worcester Centrum: This was the first country concert I ever attended. I thought it was going to be just a guy standing on stage in a cowboy hat; meanwhile he’s flying across the stage in a harness. The place was electric. 4. The Eagles, Hell Freezes Over Tour: There is no one who can sing like Don Henley. It was like listening to a CD with 10,000 other people. 5. Keith Urban, Golden Road: The best album of his career and just a great CD from beginning to end.  • A highly regarded song or album you’ve never heard: I don’t think I’ve listened to “Boom Boom Pow” by the Black Eyed Peas all the way through yet. As soon as I get to the line “you’re so 2000 late” I’ve had enough! • An “important” piece of music you just don’t get: Anything by Amy Winehouse. • An album you played or listened to incessantly: I’m loving the new Eric Church CD Carolina right now. It’s great. And Wide Open from Jason Aldean is another favorite right now. • One obscure or non-country song everyone should listen to right now: Lady Antebellum’s “The Things People Say,” and Little Big Town’s “Firebird Fly.” Both great songs.

“Barefoot And Crazy.” Heidi Newfield rocked a harmonica solo into an acoustic version of the Trick Pony hit “Pour Me” and Montgomery Gentry offered up energetic takes on “What Do You Think About That” and “Gone.” Miranda Lambert shared memories of attending the event as a fan: “And, hallelujah, I’m here onstage now!” she said. John Rich braved the 80 degree weather in a floor-length fur coat for a set that included appearances by Muzik Mafia members Cowboy Troy and Two Foot Fred on a “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy).” Rich also took a moment to recognize veterans in attendance. Taylor Swift seemed unfazed by her mic cutting out during “Our Song,” then sat at the piano for a dramatic rendition of “You’re Not Sorry.” The night’s surprise guests, Sugarland, entered surrounded by white umbrellas and played a crowd pleasing set that included “Settlin’,” “It Happens” and “Stay.” Taking the stage just before midnight, Kenny Chesney brought a measure of his famed stadium show to bear, closing the festival with “Summertime,” “Young,” “Beer In Mexico” and more.
