With XenDesktop 7.5 and XenApp 7.5, Platinum customers are entitled to a copy of AppDNA 7.5• All features enabled• Unlimited usage

Downloadable from the Citrix.com website or Platinum ISO disk image

Platinum license will give access to:• Unlimited application imports – test some or all applications in the enterprise• Unlimited compatibility analysis with either Windows Server or Desktop OSes• Effort Calculator to estimate size and scope of your migration effort• Ability to automate all operations

No need to upgrade first to latest XD/XA version – can use to migrate applications from older versions of XD/XA


Activating AppDNA with XD/XA Platinum License

License screen has an additional entry for Platinum• Will work with XenDesktop 7 or XenApp 6.5 FP2

onwards• Allows customer to test apps for compatibility with

any Windows version

Implementation details• AppDNA is downloadable from the same website

as Platinum download• In ‘Configure AppDNA’, specify connection to Citrix

license server• If a valid license detected, will unlock all AppDNA

modules for unlimited apps

Q: Web Interface support is coming back but what product versions will it be supported with?

A: Web Interface 5.4 will be supported with XenDesktop 7.x and XenApp 7.5. The recommendation is still to leverage StoreFront as Web Interface is being phased out.


Q: What am I entitled to with AppDNA in Platinum licenses?

A: Customers can use AppDNA for all of their apps though the focus is on virtualizing the apps.


Q: If I’m at XenDesktop 7.1 now with active SA can I use XenDesktop 7.5?

A: Yes. Active SA is all that is required. The SA date for the product is March 19th.


Q: What options do I have for legacy apps on Server 2003 R2?

A: Standing up a XenApp 5 farm along side a XenDesktop 7.5 site could be one option for Server 2003 support.

With XenDesktop Enterprise and Platinum licenses, another option is VM-hosted apps to deliver apps from Windows XP VDAs (which is similar to 2003 R2 but not as scalable as RDS).


Q: Will Windows XP still be available as a VDA option even with end-of-life approaching?

A: Windows XP VDAs will continue to work with the 5.6 VDA. Microsoft ended support for XP on April 8, 2014 though so Citrix also no longer supports it.
