Welcome spring and summer! The Social Services Department has been keeping busy this spring assisting clients with applications, referrals, and counseling.

If you have a Seniors Ride Free Pass and have NOT applied for Circuit Breaker, you need to do so to continue to receive free rides. The Circuit Breaker application is an income based application with an annual income limit of $27,610 for a single person and $36,635 for a two person household. Applying for this program is the only way you can continue to “ride free”. Our staff can assist you with completing this application on line. Please call us for more information and an appointment.

We have trained Medicare counselors to assist you with every aspect of Medicare – from enrollment, to choosing a supplement, or understanding a bill. Call to schedule an appointment. Our counselors are currently here the 1st and 3rd Wednesday and Thursday of the month in the mornings. Appointments are required – please call Megan Conway to schedule one today!

We are anticipating the LIHEAP program will begin to accept applications again this September. At this point, we are unsure if there will be a Summer Cooling program at all due to funding cuts. If you are having difficulty paying for your electric and heating bills, please call us and we can help explain the program and set up an appointment for when the program starts.

We are continuing to look for a Volunteer who is interested in working up to 5 hours per week as our Volunteer Coordinator. This position would include interviewing and screening volunteers, matching them up with client/member need, and following up to make sure that the match is going well. If this is something you are interested in, please call Trish at 847-991-1112. Sincerely -Trish Abbey, Director of Social Services

Northrop Grumman Volunteers Beautify the Center

The east entrance and upper level of the Senior Center have a fresh, clean look thanks to the following Northrop Grumman volunteers: Zack Zubka, Jason McKune, Justin Willie, Don Pendasula, Harry Benstein, Brian Viverito, Patrick Byrnes, Scott Ringa, Joseph Gharib, Peter Nader, Tony Viverito, John Sidor, Ted Odyniec, Randy Urban, Scott Bernacki, Tracy Bush, Deb Misra, Laura Landseadal, Tim Zubka, Ann Soby, & Anu Abraham.

We would like to specifically recognize Tony Viverito and Laura Landseadal for their leadership of the project. Also, Scott Bernacki spent a substantial amount of time finishing the project on his own. Without their direction and patience the project would not have been completed as quickly and professionally as it was. We are extremely thankful for these volunteers’ support of PTSCC.

We are looking for volunteers to help us in the ‘Our Place Café’. The Café needs drivers for Home Delivered meals and Café Assistants. Please contact Nancy at 847.776.7261, and consider sharing some of your valuable time.
