You meet every two or three weeks for one evening, during the day on four Saturdays and go away for a residential weekend together.

It explores the church from the stand point of Fresh Expressions, but of those whohave gone to a course:- 58% have applied the principles to develop their present'inherited' church.66% have grow in discipleship or Christian ministry.

The people who go are ordinary members of their own churches. Both myself andCarys are on the current course and can tell you more about it. Or go tohttp://www.freshexpressions.org.uk/missionshapedministry

The next local course is expected to be starting in Gloucester this September. Wehave at least one person interested in going along. If you are at all interested can youplease let me know. This will help the organisers to plan. Martin Reed

WW1 book by a local author“Letters from the Front The Retreat from Mons”Last year I found a bundle of letters in my attic from my Grandfather to his new wife. They record in pencil and quill pen the Retreat from Mons to Ypres in 1914. He was William Llewellen Palmer from Lackham, in Wiltshire, a noted Old Harrovian and 10thHussar who was on active service throughout the first war.You can see the work of the censor on strategic facts alongside touching poetry

“I am in a dangerous place and may be killed at any moment. God knows, my love for you knows no equal.”

It includes his photographs and letters from his time as Liaison officer to Allied HQ at Ypres. He gossips idly about the characters present at Messines:Generals French and Smith-Dorrien who were both sacked after the battle, Chetwode, Haigand Howard-Vyse who were on the rise.He is moved to tears when his closest friend the notable Cambridge and Harrow cricketerMajor Eustace Crawley of the 12th Lancers was killed in front of him.One commentator wrote “More heartbreak than history”It is available on Amazon for £9.99 and in the Garage at Andoversford.Charlie Llewellen Palmer
