Our Mission Statement
Mid-County Senior Center is a community-based senior center midway between Wilmington, Delaware and
Newark, Delaware. Our goal is to affirm and preserve the dignity and personal growth of older people. Mid-
County fosters respect, independence, and encourages members to take part in the mainstream of life. As a
community resource, it provides access to suppor"ve services and ac"vi"es. Members are encouraged to
make their voices heard and contribute to their community.
Regarding the Center
BUS FARE Transporta"on to and from Mid-County is
available to those who live in our area for
$2.00 a day. $2.25 will be charged if one
doesn’t show. This service bills monthly and
prompt payment is encouraged. A fund is
available for those unable to pay. Please
stop by the office if in need of assistance.
CONCERNS Please see a staff member, not the Na"onal
Guard, about all maintenance concerns
(e.g., repairs or cleanliness).
HANDICAPPED PARKING To use a handicapped spot, permission from
the Execu"ve Director is needed. State
authorized tags are not acceptable due to
their wide scope of classifiable ailments.
Mid-County works with limited handicapped
spaces and needs them to go the members
with the most severe impairments.
INCLEMENT WEATHER Closings will be posted on our Facebook
page and WDEL (WDEL.com/snowatch), in
addi"on to WDEL’s radio sta"on (1150AM).
Please do not call the center. Please do not call the center. Please do not call the center. Please do not call the center.
NO SMOKING An execu"ve order from the Governor
eliminated smoking on the property of all
state buildings. Please comply.
PARKING
Mid-County’s parking area is through the
secured gate and in the rear of the building.
PERSONAL BELONGINGS
Personal belongings are the sole responsibil-
ity of the owner. Mid-County accepts no
responsibility for items lost or damaged.
QUIET PLEASE
Be respecHul of guest speakers and an-
nouncements by staying quiet through the
en"rety of an event. Please also refrain from
talking with your neighbor, as you and those
around you miss important informa"on.
TRIP TRANSPORTATION The bus is boarded in the order of sign-up.
Noncompliance with this rule will result in
temporary disembarkment so the proper
sea"ng order can be met. All members must
also make separate transporta"on arrange-
ments for trips that run past Mid-County’s
opera"onal hours.
In addi"on, the limited amount of space on
buses eliminates any possibility of a water
cooler. Because of this, bringing a personal
source of water on trips is encouraged.
SUGGESTION BOX The sugges"on box, currently at the
resource table (with the ac"vity sign-up
sheets), can be used to submit ideas or
sugges"ons.
SEATING
Please do not put pocketbooks or bags on
chairs. No one owns a seat at Mid-County;
our policy is first come, first served. Please
also place canes and walkers appropriately
so as not to create a tripping hazard.
SIGN-IN Please sign in at the main table in the main
room immediately aAer entering Mid-
County, even if you aren’t ea"ng lunch or
staying any length of "me. Our funding is
dependent on the number of par"cipants
in various ac"vi"es, and we use sign-in rec-
ords to verify those numbers.
Note: Note: Note: Note: Those who have signed up for an
ac"vity don’t need to sign in again.
SILVER & FIT PROGRAM We’re now par"cipa"ng in Silver & Fit, a
program that supports gym memberships
for older people. Ask your insurance
company about eligibility. Stop by the
office for more informa"on.

Select Fridays at Mid-County are home
to many fun games:
Horse Racing - Place bets at 25¢ a “horse” and hope
Lady Luck is on your side- the superstition, not the
horse - that would be favoritism. Remember to bring
your quarters!
Trivia Games - Pick a side and pick your brain; choose
wisely though, the victorious team wins prizes.
Table Shuffleboard - Haven’t you always wondered
who among your friends could slide a puck across a
waxed table the best– and really, who hasn’t? Defini-
tively lay the argument to rest; table shuffleboard is
here to quell the boasters and braggarts.
Draw that Song - this one’s simple and
a fan favorite: one player chooses their
song using a list or from memory and
tries to draw the song out while other
players attempt to guess the tune.
