14th Sunday in Ordinary Time Mark 6: 1-6 Quesons to Ponder: 1. What things have you accomplished in your life that you are proud of? How do those close to you feel about your accomplishments? Do they rejoice with you or ask, “Where do you get off acng so proud of yourself?” 2. The age old queson of Jesus’ “brothers and sisters” arises in this reading. Who do you think these people are to Jesus? Does it ma,er to you that Jesus may not have been an only child? Why or why not? 3. Why was Jesus not able to perform any mighty deeds there? Are you ever amazed at the lack of faith in others? In yourself?

Hello Parish Family! Happy belated 4
th of July to you! I was challenged to get
this le,er turned in early due to bullen deadlines with the
holiday, so I am in the mindset that the 4th of July has not hap
pened yet. As I was thinking about wring this le,er, I reflected back
on the past week and spending some down me with Jim and
Jimmy (husband and son). We took a road trip up to the Naonal Air Force Museum in Dayton, Ohio. I have to promote
this place – it’s huge, its FREE and it can entertain kids and
adults for hours if they like planes and its only 2.5 hours away. Jimmy has become a big WWII buff over the past 18
months. He is always quizzing me on who made what plane,
what day was DDay, what countries were part of the allied
forces, and such. He also likes to ask quesons about the specific features of the planes. AAer we leA the museum we
headed up to Detroit, MI, and went to the Henry Ford
Museum. We were able to view a variety of items from the past, including planes and cars, and learn all about electricity
and the strides in technology we have made.
With all that being said, I have to say THANK YOU to all
those who gave to make our country FREE and those with the creave minds to give us electricity and running water too!!
Without those who gave all where would we be? At the Air
Force Museum you see planes, pictures and videos of what fighng was like with planes in WWI, WWII and today. I don’t
know how pilots did what they did during WWII. I don’t know
how pilots get in planes today to test them to see if they will
fly or how fast they will go. Jimmy has read me stories and made me watch numerous videos and shows about how pilots
and those on the ground fought and won with the tools of the
trade at that me of the ba,les; the POWs who were spit at and ridiculed with their bones showing due to malnutrion
and those who died from disease all to fight for our free
doms at home. I think about the families who sll do not know where their loved ones remains’ are.
Jimmy doesn’t want to go to Walt Disney World or a park for
vacaon, he wants to go to Pearl Harbor and Normandy to see
and envision what those who fought for us went through. He is a tough kid with a lot of heart and passion. Last year we
took a trip to Washington, DC. One of his favorite sites was
Arlington Naonal Cemetery where he saw JFK’s marker and eternal flame along with the changing of the guards at the
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Even though you will read this
aAer the 4th of July, connue to celebrate and appreciate our
freedom, and say a prayer of blessing for those who gave and sll give all, including their families so we can remain free.
To those who have family currently serving in the US
Military to you and them I salute you and say THANK YOU. Thank you for your service and thank you for your support of
those family members who do what they do to keep us safe.
God Bless,
Dawn Schepers

Prayer for Priests
Gracious and loving God, we thank your for the gi of our priests. Through them, we experience your
presence in the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their voca"on. Set their souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understand
ing, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience
joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and
reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen.

Go Beyond Sunday: Stewardship of our Talents Spiritual GiGs Course
Ever wonder about the ‘Spiritual Gis Helpful’ lis3ng for each of the ministries
described in our Parish Ministry Booklet? A Spiritual Gis Course will once again be offered in our parish, beginning in August. This course will help you iden3fy your spiritual giGs. The course will be offered on four consecuve Thursday nights: August 23, 30, September 6, and 13. Sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m. and will conclude at 8:45 p.m. All sessions will be held on the St. Joe Hill Campus in the Mark room of the parish mee3ng center (the old school building). Because the Stewardship Commission believes strongly in this program, there is no charge for the Spiritual Gis Course. We will have a free-will offering at some point in the program. Mark your calendars now and complete your registra3on form found in the back of both chapels. You may return your registra3on in the collec3on basket or drop off at either parish office.

The middle school group gathered for a morning of service. They made a taco bar and delivered it to some local agencies: Sellersburg Police Department, Sellersburg Fire Department, and The Center for Women & Families. They
