SCRIPTURE READINGS FOR NEXT SUNDAY #919
2 Kings 4:42-44 Ephesians 4:1-16 John 6:1-15
“
WE ARE CALLED TO GATHER THE SHEEP
TOGETHER . . . In the reading from the prophet
Jeremiah, God reveals that He will gather the sheep
together under shepherds who will care for the flock.
These shepherds will provide a safe pasture for the sheep
where they will no longer be afraid. Pope Francis has
called every believer to be a good shepherd and
challenged priests and bishops to go forth among the
people to meet them on the journey. We all know that we
have lost some sheep and now is the time to seek the lost
and welcome them home. We all know someone who is
hurting and now is the time to heal that hurt. We know
some sheep that are lost and now is the time for them to
be found. Now is the time for us to be good shepherds
reaching out with love, gentleness and compassion. Now
is our time to gather the flock.
THE SECOND COLLECTION
NEXT WEEKEND will be for the work
of the St. Vincent de Paul Society who
gives assistance to families in need of
financial help with their rent, utilities
and other necessities. Your generosity as
always is greatly appreciated!
THE ST. WINIFRED EARLY LEARNING
CENTER has openings in our morning program for 3, 4
and 5-year old children in our community. For additional
information or to schedule a tour of our facility, please
contact Director Georgeanne Cluskey at 412-561-6001
or e-mail her at [email protected].
DONATIONS ARE NEEDED! The Day Center at
Family Promise was flooded with three inches of water
and sewage in the recent torrential rains in Carnegie.
Items that were stored in boxes were ruined. Clean up is
underway and Family Promise is accepting donations of
storage bins with lids to keep safe all their supplies for
the homeless families we serve. Donations can be
brought to the Rectory. For any additional information,
please contact parishioner Fran Cook at 412-563-1299.
PLEASE REMEMBER IN YOUR
PRAYERS the repose of the souls
of parishioner Harold Bushey, and
Mary Tatangelo, mother of parishioner Marilyn Shiwarski.
May God grant them eternal peace and solace to their
families.

RENEWAL OF THE MONTESSORI SCHOOL LEASE
We are pleased to report that we recently completed a
renewal of the Mt. Lebanon Montessori School lease here at
St. Winifred Parish. Our long-standing relationship has been
extended for another three years, and we look forward to
continuing this important relationship.
2019 MASS INTENTIONS It
is once again time to schedule
Mass intentions for the coming
year. Diocesan regulations
require that one Sunday liturgy
be offered for the “People of the
Parish”. Due to the limited amount of weekday
liturgies, St. Winifred’s policy is to limit Mass
intentions for one specific individual to two Masses a
year. Stop in or call the Rectory to reserve your Mass
intentions. The offering is $10/Mass. For those who
have lost a loved one and find themselves with several
Masses from family and friends, please be aware that we
are required by the Diocese to fulfill these intentions
during the year. Families who have excess intentions
will be sent to priests who are in need of Mass
intentions—for example Fr. Dennis Koltz in Brazil and
Fr. John Takyi in Ghana. We appreciate everyone’s
understanding regarding this important concern facing
all parishes.
