July 2018_____________________________________________________Longview, TX
President's Corner
Ladies,
While I'm writing this month's letter, I'm in
Anacortes, WA enjoying my grandchildren, the
beautiful Pacific Bay views, and GOD'S
many wonders. Also the temperatures are in the low
60's during the evening and early morning and mid
70's during the day. As the kids would say,
"Don't be a hater". For someone like me, that's hot
natured, this is heaven.
I've already visited a Quilt shop in Anacortes.
There were two quilt shops, but one shut down to
my dismay.
The quilt program Peggy Hobbs, presented was
very enjoyable. I wish I had some of my
Grandmother's quilts, but sadly they all disappeared
from her bedroom closet when she became ill. Never
found out what happened to the quilts. SAD
Remember ladies, the Trash to Treasure sale.
Measure fabric, put in Zip-Lock bags, put yardage
and price on outside of bag. Also we will have a
luncheon with the guild providing the chicken and
ham. Look and see what list you are on for side
dishes. We are using A-Z, whatever your last name
begins with that's what side dish you are to bring.
STAY COOL, I REALLY AM, here
in WA. State. See you at July meeting.
Donna Reagh
July 2018 Program:
Saturday, July 21, at 10:00 AM
(gather at 9:30 for fellowship)
Trash to Treasure
Pull out those fabrics that you know
will not be used again, roughly measure
them, and bag them in zip lock bags labeled
with the amount of fabric and the price. You
may wish to create a bag of scraps. It will
need to be marked “scraps” and have a price
written on the bag. Also, don’t forget rulers,
books, patterns, magazines, and other items
needed in quilting. This is a fundraiser!

Pat Smith passed out some beautiful challenge
fabric this last meeting. If you did not get one
and want to participate, contact Pat. Each person
gets 1/2 yard. You will decide on a quilt pattern
and use the challenge fabric along with fabric of
your own to create a quilt. Pat would like for the
quilts to be big enough to donate to " Danielle's
Home of Hope for Children" so please make
them no smaller than 48" X 60". We will turn
them in at the August meeting. Good luck!

Quilt storage tip- no fold lines:
Buy a 3" diameter PVC pipe at
any Home Improvement store. They are
usually 10 feet in length. Have them cut
it into 2 lengths. You may want two 5-
foot lengths or one 6- foot and one 4 -
foot.
Make a cylindrical cover for the
PVC pipe using muslin. Cover the pipe
with the muslin and then roll several
quilts on the pipe with the right sides
facing inside. Roll a piece of muslin
around the outside of the last quilt and
secure with safety pins at each end and
the middle. Slide it under a bed or stand
it up in closet.
