THE ST. ANN SODALITY will be holding a “Household Shower” to fill the Cedar Chest which will be raffled at the Fall Festival this year. Their next meeting is August 9th at 6:00 pm. THIS WEEK’S READINGS: Over the years, a number of different interpretations have been proposed concerning the Gospel story of Mary sitting at Jesus’ feet while Martha is bustling about. Our reading from Genesis sets the context, however. Hospitality is indeed important and has its rewards. Perhaps where Martha crosses the line is in grumbling about it. How about us? What is our attitude when we are called upon to serve others? What do you think it should be?

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Beginning this week, how can I schedule my daily sit-and-listen time and my go-and-do time, so that my participation in the Jubilee Year of Mercy is both contemplative and active?

BEYOND SUNDAY CAMPAIGN: As good stewards, we ask that everyone participates in the Beyond Sunday Campaign. Several weeks ago, full packets of information was mailed out to some of our parishioners. To date, very few of these have been returned to us. We ask you to prayerfully consider your sacrifice whether it be monetary or prayers for success. Your support in responding is very important. All we ask is that you return the ENTIRE PLEDGE SHEET whether or not you are able to donate to this campaign. This is one way to participate. Please remember to sign the returned pledge sheet! No pledge is too small and no prayer will ever be turned away!

Are You Registered? Did you know that demographic studies estimate that more than 1/3 of all Catholics are not registered in a parish? If you are not registered in our parish, please consider doing so. Also, please encourage your friends and family to register! Registering is important because: •If a parish doesn’t know who is out there, how can it adequately serve the needs of all – especially singles, divorced or young families who may not see the need to register? •When the services of the Church are needed - such as for a wedding, Baptism or funeral - it is easier if the person is registered. •Registered parishioners receive helpful information about our parish in the form of newsletters several times throughout the year. Discerning your vocation in life: Jesus’ core message—that we are one—is surely one of the great mysteries of existence. This truth is so hard to accept because our senses tell a different story: We are separate, different, and alone. We need an image to help us realize what our senses cannot. Picture the giant redwood trees of California: They only grow in groves. Moreover, each tree’s roots extend and grasp the roots of the surrounding trees, forming a strong, interconnecting network that serves to nourish and sustain all of them equally. Remember the redwood trees and their invisible, interlocking roots as you discern your vocation. You are not alone and never will be on your chosen path to Christ.
