Julian Asher is a young
reggae artist with a fresh, unique
style and a solid roots background.
Hailing from Cape Town, Julian is
recognised not least within Berlin
for his originality and charismatic
energy as a live performer.
Julian has fronted shows with
Downtown Steppas over the last
18 months, captivating audiences
at festivals and prime venues in
the city such as YAAM.

Downtown Steppas are a reggae, dub & dancehall backing band from Berlin.
They have released two songs with Julian Asher, Zion Daughter and Just Cause, and have a
strong repertoire of riddims, including a number of original ones. Downtown Steppas had
a busy first year collaborating with notable Berlin-based reggae artists, appearing at key
festivals in the city and successfully hosting shows, which has established the band on the
local reggae scene. Downtown Steppas consists of four core members with international
roots and experience, providing keyboards, guitar, bass and drums.
