Reception parents and carers, we hope you had a lovely Easter break! This term we welcome Mrs Baxby to Reception, and say goodbye and good luck to Mrs Heys! During Summer Term 1 we will be basing our learning around the magical world of Julia Donaldson! Some of the exciting activities we will be doing include making Gruffalo crumble and making our own story maps! The loan of any books or resources that link with our topic would be brilliant, remember to please label your belongings clearly Please continue to support your child with practising recognition of the sound and number cards, little and often is best! We are so proud of the children’s (and your!) efforts with spellings, the children are trying so hard to also use the words they have learnt in their independent writing which is fantastic. Consolidating sound, word and number knowledge will enable your child to progress across every area of the curriculum, with ever increasing independence. Please also try and read with your child at least three times a week - your continued support is much appreciated! As we are entering the fifth term the children are continuing to increase their independence, we are encouraging them to enter the classroom (leaving you at the black gate ) and to organise their belongings independently! This term we are focusing particularly on sentence writing, carefully sounding out our words with correct use of capital letters, finger spaces and full stops. The children will soon be bringing home a jotter book to practise their writing, more information on this to follow soon Don’t forget the ‘Superstar Notelets’ - if you have run out, please do ask for more or simply take a sheet from our noticeboard! A new ‘Show and Tell’ rota has also been sent home, so have a look when it’s your turn! Our swimming day in now on a Thursday. Just a reminder it is Reception J/B’s class assembly on Friday 19 th May at 9:00am, and Reception B’s class assembly is on Friday 26 th May at 9:00am. It would be lovely to see you there!
