INFORMATION ON THE NEW OPEN & ASSIGNED GROOMING

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!!!!

In order to be able to plan in advance for the AKC/Eukanuba NationalChampionship and the preceding 3 local All-Breed shows, we are sharing this infor-mation on new enhancements to the Grooming Hall.

The 2012 Events will be in a larger section of the Orange County ConventionCenter’s West Building.

Exhibitor unloading will be available beginning on Tuesday at 2:00 pm.

There will be one Grooming Hall specifically dedicated for ALL crating andgrooming, occupying over 140,000 square feet. This will be the only locationwhere grooming will be permitted. The entire grooming hall will have complimen-tary electric provided in all areas.

“Open Grooming” areas will strictly follow a set grid for “Crates/Tables/Aisles”without exception. Complimentary shared electric outlets will be placed throughoutthis area and no one person may claim exclusive use of these unrestricted services.

The Grooming Hall will be overseen by Harry Miller and the Kiarry Site ControlStaff. Please reach-out to Harry’s staff if any problem or issue arises with yourassigned space. Only his staff will have contact with the facility if needed. Noexhibitors are authorized to make requests of the facility and could be heldresponsible for any costs related to a request that is not approved by Harry’s staff.

Look for the men in the “Orange Jackets”!

Bathing Stations: Bathing Stations will be located outside of the Grooming Hall.“Pure Paws” will be the official sponsor of the bathing stations and will have abooth in the grooming area where products and assistance can be obtained. Use ofthe “Bathing Station” will be limited to “daylight hours” only. Please plan according-ly. There can be no “wet dogs” walked through the facility at any time. This is animportant safety measure to prevent anyone from slipping on a wet floor. Pleaserelay this information to anyone bathing a dog. Plan to carry or to transport by crateon a dolly. Anyone putting these events at risk will be subject to disciplinary actionby the show committee.

Public Ex-Pens: Public Ex-Pens will be located both within the Grooming Hall aswell as in numerous covered locations on the rear docks. Limited areas for privateex-pens will be available at designated locations only, and they must follow ourguidelines to be properly maintained or they will be subject to removal. Harry‘sstaff will determine the number of ex-pens any one exhibitor or handler can erect.

A detailed layout of the facility will be sent to those entered after the closing dateof the event(s).

There is NO GROOMING in the Show Hall.

There will be designated ringside HOLDING areas for each ring. Onlybreeds that are customarily judged on a table will be permitted to bring a crate ortable ringside within these designated areas, and only during the times associatedwith that specific breed judging. There is NO GROOMING in this designated area.Once judging of that breed is over ALL crates and/or tables must be removed.

No large breed crates or tables will be allowed in these areas. This is a safetyrequirement by the facility Fire Marshall and will be strictly enforced.

There are no longer “restricted access aisles” and no wrist bands are required forexhibitors during the daytime judging.

Breed winners will receive special access wristbands in their winner’s packet forevening group ring admittance.

AKC Code ofSportsmanship

PREFACE: The sport of purebred dog competitive events dates priorto 1884, the year of AKC's birth. Shared values of those involved inthe sport include principles of sportsmanship. They are practiced inall sectors of our sport: conformation, performance and companion. Many believe that these principles of sportsmanship are the primereason why our sport has thrived for over one hundred years. Withthe belief that it is useful to periodically articulate the fundamentalsof our sport, this code is presented.

• Sportsmen respect the history, traditions and integrity of the sportof purebred dogs.

• Sportsmen commit themselves to values of fair play, honesty, courtesy, and vigorous competition, as well as winning and losing with grace.

• Sportsmen refuse to compromise their commitment and obligationto the sport of purebred dogs by injecting personal advantage orconsideration into their decisions or behavior.

• The sportsman judge judges only on the merits of the dogs andconsiders no other factors.

• The sportsman judge or exhibitor accepts constructive criticism.• The sportsman exhibitor declines to enter or exhibit under a judge

where it might reasonably appear that the judge's placements couldbe based on something other than the merits of the dogs.

• The sportsman exhibitor refuses to compromise the impartiality of a judge.• The sportsman respects the AKC bylaws, rules, regulations and

policies governing the sport of purebred dogs.• Sportsmen find that vigorous competition and civility are not

inconsistent and are able to appreciate the merit of their competi-tion and the effort of competitors.
